The GTX 980 Ti owners thread.

Yeah, honestly not bothered until HBM is out lol

300 should be as low as a 980Ti could go right?

For the next 3/4 weeks? Yes I'd guess so.

Problem is no-one knows how strong the 1070 is going to be, plus it's got an extra 2GB of vRam...

It's a toss-up for sure, but tbh I don't think you can go wrong with SLi Ti. Resolution? 1440p+?

If the 1080 is an overclocking monster then go for one of those. Reviews should be out Tues ;)

I'm trying to hold out til then to decide...

3440*1440

Well if it's just Tuesday then I guess I'll wait lol

It'll be worth it, doubtful that he Ti will go up from there (and I'm expecting the 1070 to clock well to boot!!)

Single 1080 or a pair of 1070's til the HBM2 monsters arrive, hmmmmm :D

lets have none of this 1xxx talk in a 980ti owners thread......

;)

loyalists only! :D

Decided to miss 1xxx altogether and sticking with my 980ti. I can afford a £500 -£600 or so new card so whatever comes next after Pascal I will go for. The benefit in speed should be massive by then and anything I get for the 980ti will be a bonus plus I will have had my money's worth.

Good stuff thanks :)
Just need to decide or find confirmation if my Corsair RM850 gold is up to the job of SLI'ing these cards or whether to upgrade psu at the same time.

I was running 980ti sli on corsair ax860i, no problem. It is a digital psu with corsair link software. It shows you excatly how much it takes to power your system. In my case two 980ti @1450, [email protected] and few ssds and hdds never ever aproached 800W, so your psu is more than enough.

850w might be enough but it depends. I've had my cards use 1100w draw from the wall before on furmark with 123% power. So much the cards had to downclock.

In games it's a little different I rarely see above 80% total power usage on each card. 850w should be ok but I'd certainly monitor it. I've had them use more than 900w on many of occasion while gaming.

Upside SLI for me is pretty perfect. 99% of games support it well nowadays. Works beautifully. I could never go back to a single card.

My Ti's have served me well for 12 months come 1080 release. 1080s it is :).

I think the main focus here would be how much extra you gotta pay for the 1080 vs just buying another 980Ti to SLI.

I paid 300 for another 980Ti, that's 50-70%+ performance for 300, if I sell my 980Ti and then go for a 1080, how much would that cost & how long do I have to wait?

If it's less than 300 for 50-70%+ performance then I'm in a loss, but otherwise I'd consider it's a win :D

Plus the new features of small Pascal honestly is a joke to me...

Could anyone hazard a guess as to how much the new cards from overclockers come down to when the 1080 nears release?

My same Evga Reference 980 Ti is pretty much the same price I payed less then a year ago around £540 from here, any idea/guesses whether they will come down in price and for how much?

Definitely set on the idea of SLI'ing these and would prefer a card from new really.

Cheers

This is what I've been considering also.

I got my Zotac in the £500 offer OCUK were running near launch and am very pleased with it, if I could get another for £300 or under it would be very tempting.

Although, I want to watercool my build in the next few months, so if I buy a new 980ti for £300 and then need a second block for another £95 including fittings, it's now a £400 upgrade and frankly I'm only running a 520w PSU so would need a new one of those too so its now nearer £500.

It would depend on how much of an improvement a 1080 was or a 1080ti when it eventually lands, and the costs of each.

The reality being, for what I use it for waiting for a 1080ti would be the sensible option of the two. Waiting a couple of years would be more sensible still!
