The GTX Titan X owners thread.

With decent PC development there would be no need for such high Vram requirements. Pc gaming is led by the consoles which makes for lazy ports requiring far higher specs than the game deserves. I still find it a little bit mad that we pay stupid amounts of cash to play slightly tarted up usually quite old console ports. :)

that is daft, 8gb is fine for 4K..........but you wont notice 4K at 9.5ft away on a 55'' to a 65'' tv, (your eyes wont detect the increase in Resolution and detailing that far away) ............the 4K tv has to be either miles bigger at 9.5ft away, or miles closer.

4k looks great for gaming because your monitor is damned close to you, i've been researching this all week...... very interesting

here are the viewing distances, it's quite a shock:-

conclusion:- if you game via tv forget about 4K, this will also apply to 4K TV as well, because it will always look like a normal 1080p TV at 9.5 ft away and it does in the showrooms too.

keep your Panasonic plasmas for now ;)

I've got a 4k TV in the lounge connected to my TitanX's

I mostly game from the sofa, but sometimes I use my office chair and sit much closer to the screen.

4k is more noticeable in games than movies. Probably because there aren't really any 4k content movies.

I have still got a couple of HD 5970s I got when they first launched.

The HD 5970 was considered to have a decent amount of VRAM, unfortunately 1gb does not go far these days.:D:)

My 5870 is sitting in my spare room still , always handy to have a spare gpu :) , was a great card and yes Vram was the biggest reason i changed it :D

Stop using 8XMSAA and GTA won't use 8GB. I can barely get it to use over 4GB with 4XMSAA at 1440p.

It's possible to bring a lot of AAA games to their knees if you set out to try. Anyone worth their salt knows anti aliasing is a killer, people should be more interested in what LOD texture fidelity is possible with reasonable settings.

6GB is still capable of driving 4K without much if any grievance, but I'll await your next example Kaap lol.

They were cheaper than that on release, in fact the SC version was around that price.

+1

Think mine was £870 on launch day. (Which is a lot of money).

Now I've dropped down to 1080P I'm considering passing mine on and waiting for something similar in performance but a lot cheaper.. Might be waiting a long time though :p Hmm..

Nothing to argue about, it does not matter how you get over 8gb the fact is you can do it now @2160p.

Someone asked for an example and I gave one.

Q.E.D.

Just checked my card was £889.99 on launch day.

Really thinking I don't need this much power for 1080P, it made sense at 1440P because I couldn't fit two cards in my Mini-ITX, but at 1080P..

Sell now, buy something cheaper later on. Tempted..

Here is another example of 8gb breached

Watchdogs @2160p

This was after just a few minutes near the beginning of the game where I am trying to get past a cop.

I am not saying max settings are needed for games, what I am saying is it is possible to use more than 8gb now.:)
