Ive not installed afterburner or anything like that but looking at GPU-z my idle temp is 62 degrees with a fan speed of 24%. Is that too high?

Also it says performance is capped?

Do you have a 144Hz monitor?

If you have more than 2 monitors connected as well (even 60hz) it'll idle high.

I had the very same problem.

Not sure what your last line is referring to? Is it running at PCIE 3.0 x16?

On the GPU Z screenshot there is a bar in grey near the bottom that is greyed out and says perfcap

It seems I had performance set to high instead of adaptive so a quick reboot and the clocks are now low with 40 degrees idle temps and 22% fan.

In regards to perfcap though- PCI-e 3.0x16 is active and everything else seems fine except that. It lists reasons as -
Pwr-limited by power limit
Thrm-limited by temperature limit
Vrel-limited by reliability voltage
Vop-limited by operating voltage
Util-limited by GPU ultilization

This may,of course,be nothing but Id rather put it to bed now to save potential throttling or issues

Absolutely chuffed to bits with it though. Its a thing of beauty and I cant wait to start playing the games my lowly 780 struggled with

Good shout and that would make sense. Probs hitting a ceiling and that indicates the clocks dropping to get under that temp. I am interested to know now

Think Ayahuasca just hit the nail square on the head there. Temps were 82 degrees when its in the pink and when its in the grey is when its on desktop meaning it knows the temp limit is there just not active.

Yep, it is when the temp limit is hit (80c I believe) and then it starts to downclock. I left the default nVidia fan profile on and ran Heaven, when the card hit 80c, this is where GPU-Z perfcap went pink and when it got under 80c, it went blue again.

Witcher 3 with latest updates and Titan X is absolutely awesome.

Was a bit disappointed with W3 performance at first but with the optimisation and latest patches it's blinding on the PC. CDPR do work hard to get things right.

Agreed. With everything maxed at 1440P andd that includes HairWorks, I am sitting pretty at around 55fps, which isn't too shabby at all

Just ran around for a couple of minutes in Witcher 3 and all I got was a horrible browny yellow on mine.



Was it something I ate.
