The Happy thread - Positive posts only :-)

Both. After I get my PPL. I am going to do my ATPL theory which will take me around 9 months. At the same time I am going to apply to a flying school in Lodz Poland. They have a 4 month course where I will do my ratings (multi engine, cpl, instrument etc). I have family that live there who are happy to let me stay and I have dual citizenship. The school in Poland will offer me a route to do a type rating for 737 with Ryanair if I am successful. This is my main plan at the moment.

I have never taken any risks in my life so this will be a first for me but I am fully in. Getting made redundant 3 years ago whilst bad at the time really opened up the mind to a lot.
Yeah I'm going through similar thought processes now. What do I do? I'm not happy, something has to change.

Would be interested to hear how you go. Flying has always fascinated me. And I have the finances to pay for such a thing. And the aptitude.

I'm looking for desk jobs and I'm feeling totally uninspired by anything

First thing you need to do is get yourself a medical before you waste any money. It is about £750 and it is quite thorough. They check everything so if you haven't had an M.O.T it is a good thing. Commercial flying requires a medical every year and one every 6 months from 40 to 65.

I had raised cholesterol even though I am fit and a healthy weight. I have removed all saturated fat from diet. ( I used to eat cheese with everything, gone onto semi skimmed milk. Zero sugar in tea. Etc) Had blood tests from my GP and everything is great now. High cholesterol didn't prevent me from getting my class 1 medical but it is something I obviously don't want to ignore.

Then get yourself some trial lessons at a local flying club to see if you will fit. I just drove to my local airfield and got a great instructor. 68 years old but a proper aviator with a commercial background.

I would get on the PPRuNe forums as there is plenty of stuff on there that will explain things and your options.

It is pretty much full on for me at least. I work 3.5 days a week. On my 3.5 days off I fly 2 of them (3 hour slots) and the rest is taken up with theory. I also do my theory whilst at work as I get hours of break time some days.

At the beginning it was hard to get the determination to get going but feel like I am in a good rhythm now.

Having not had a dog for about 7 years, we went to meet a rescue today and we are gonna take him. Lovely white lurcher who is 6.5yrs old, and is just the most lovely gentleman of a dog. Looking forwards to him joining the family, as are my wife and daughter.

went for a jog with my brother he can now do 3km nonstop. A massive achievement
That's a huge step. I remember getting to the point where I could do 1km without stopping - it's a great feeling!
Once you've got to 3km it's fairly easy to keep pushing the boundaries - the sky really is the limit. Good on him!

I have done about 4 days on the bike this week, not bad

On the the hand, i have just looked out the window, and its absolutely belting it down with rain

Im going to get soaked going home

Enjoying my week away in Yorkshire, been down some caves (Stump cross caverns), up to the "Finest view in England" and today been to an almost 900 year old Abbey ruins (Fountains Abbey).
Had some great food, fantastic experiences and quality time with my wife.

Sadly coming to an end and back home tomorrow, but will take back plenty of good memories

Worked my butt off for the last quarter, had a good review today with my boss, big quarterly bonus and lots of good feedback.

It’s nice to have a solid purpose and be enjoying work again.

Sounds like you've had a lovely time! Any personal recommendations of things to see/do in Yorkshire? I'm very much into hiking and outdoorsy things (got a trip to Peak District next month), but I haven't been up to Yorkshire yet. Yorkshire Moors is on my list to explore.

Feeling happy because I've decided to ring in sick tomorrow and probably the day after.
Im stressed to **** and feeling guilty already because I'm from a different era than today, but I'm happy that I feel in control for once. If that makes sense...

Currently enjoying the glorious sunshine out on the balcony with a beer here in BC Vancouver - we fly back to Scotland on Sunday and I have a week off before I quit the job i hate and start my new course . . . . . .
