Great set of FSX screenshots there Ali195. Shot 6 is deffo my favorite. I recognize some of the addons, I think: F16 Fighting Falcon, VFR UK, Switzerland X or Frank's Alps, and some more photoreal scenery, not sure which.
Anyways, thanks for sharing, I would like to know 1 thing please. How did you get the water to look like in shot 6, I presume FSCW and possible REX settings? If so, would appreciate if you could tell me the settings for that water template.

Been adding some FSX shots recently as well in this thread. Let me add some more of my recent Bank Holiday weekend flying. (Alas, although I run FSX at 1920x1080, I gotta save these images on photobucket at 1024x768, due to me showing these images to several FS forums, and they prefer smaller screen size)

How does fsx run these days, does sp1 improve the performance a lot ?
I tried it on release but it ran really appalling, but back then my 6800GS and pentium D at 3.9 ghz had a hard time chewing a game like that

Is a G92 card enough and a quad at 3.2 ghz ?
What kind of mods are needed to make it look like that ?

Yeah you are correct. VFR UK, Switzerland Pro X, F16, F-20 (with thrust vectorying, lost of fun) but last time i checked Flight Environment X it was set to Cloud Theme: Extreme Dream, Water Theme: dark, Sky Theme: kosher sky, Water Animation: storm rugged.
Been ive moved onto Real Environment Xtreme now because FEX is never updated.

There is SP1 & SP2 for FSX now, both free ofcourse, also, the Acceleration pack includes both SPs plus extra content. And yes, both packs does improve FSX a lot. Although in the end, the FSX is old and flawed, but with many of addons, esp over the past year, have fastly improved FSX and its looks. Like REX and smaller free mods/fixes. FSX mainly needs raw CPU power, so the higher the clock the better, it does not take full advantage of multicore, so a duo running at 4ghz will run the same as a quad running 4ghz in FSX. Need at least 4gb of memory, can run with less but not ideal. Graphic card, best to stick with single core cards, NVidia suppose to run best with FSX due to the way it can handle clouds better, 8800, 9800 & Ultra, seems to be the best. Later Nvidia cards can ofcourse handle it as well, but won't be much of an improvement. ATI is good too but doesn't handle lots of cloud layer and tends to stutter quicker, but ATI does provide slightly better image quality esp at higher res. Need decent HD, again nothing fancy, just a fast single small HD will be fine (500gb or less). As for addons, there is lots of freeware and payware, imo the most essential addon would be REX, real environment X. Photo real scenery, both freeware or payware, is what takes up GBs of space, hencewhy dedicated FSXers have 100GBs used for FSX. I myself am upto @180-200GB usage for FSX. But this is upto the individual user. I could go on but this should give you an idea.
Do you use FSCW at all to change your water settings? And yes, REX is a better product mainly due to better support and updates.

. But I like flying the older 70s,80s & 90s liveries. Plus I find during that era, a larger variety of Jetliners were around, much more interesting then the dreary variety of Airbuses that dominate the skies nowadays.

Gosh, there are so many, depends on what you want and where you like to fly. Check google for the following:
Frank Alps FSX photoreal
Orbx freeware
freeware photo or photoreal scenery FSX
Also worth trying to get hold of:
FPS limiter mod FSX
HDR Mod FSX
That should give you some results. It is also worth browsing FS forums like the REX forums and Flightsimworld forums. Many threads, esp in the screenshot section, on the freeware/payware stuff out there.
