Announcing Doc's Outfitters

Photo of Doc

I said it would never happen, hoped someone else would do it, tried damn hard to avoid it, but in the end even I have had to bend to the will of the people...

Yes, I'm opening a Store.

All items will be specially selected by me for good quality, and suitability for hunting in the EHR. I'll be selling weapons, ammunition, hunting aids, some short time tags and eventually clothing too.

Guests, Wardens and Members alike will all find something useful.

Check my page in the social space from May 1st - maybe a little sooner if I feel like it.

One thing though... no haggling, ok?

Happy Hunting

Doc

God damn went on a hunt last night...found a 270lb stag mofo.

Waited, he got nice and close, I shot him in the neck (confirmed).

He sprinted off, I followed the trails...the trails died after about 3 full red circle dots. I searched for 15mins and lost the ****.

It's times like this that really p155 me off with this game. How can an animal with a ****ing bullet in its neck sprint/move more than 100-200ft without plopping on the floor dead/dying.

Unbelievable!!! I instantly quit too, purely to make a point to the game I don't like being ****ed about!! :D

thing is they can run for a long way sometimes i actually traveled over 1000metres on one i had shot.

thing is you might of just clipped it or not where you thought it was.rage quitting on deer is a new one :D

What sort of ****ing anmial can travel one km with a bullet in their frigging neck from close range though? WTB realism!

I mean I've shot and gave chase before. Only a short way down the line (always less than 500m) they are found either walking dead slow, glitching next to a tree or dying on the floor.

It just really annoyed me as the trails dissapeared too. I wouldn't mind if it gave some indication as to where it ran, but the trails were showing me one way and my eyes on the deer showed another...I tried both ways and got nothing!!!

Meh, not so bad, the other night in 35mins I got 4 deers so I'm happy.

Quick question for the pros while I'm here posting:

When hunting elk/moose/whatever do I have to use other guns to kill them or will the standard hunting rifle do?

I shot a large male Elk last night and thought I'd lost the trail - after about 10 mintes solid searching I eventually found the body not far from where I'd shot it but it was in a hollow which was surrounded by undergrowth, it was only by persistance and constantly returning back to the last confirmed track that I found it.

You need to use the 30-06 rifle (no sight) to ethically kill an Elk.

just had some great hunting must off seen twenty elk

killed two out of the three found on a meadow while one tried to run i shot both :D

also nice mule stag and a 21.3turkey with big beard.

thing that done me in end though was i shot a male turkey at over 450ft and found the blood but no turkey :( that was a top of the leaderboard for shaw :(

Dude! I get the glitched deer when they are shot and then run all the time!!!

I get them more than I get normal ones that sit the **** down like they should do after getting shot!! :D

Shoot better ;)
If you shoot the neck and it runs, then you missed the spine which means you have a chase ahead of you while it slowly bleeds out. They can go some serious distance.
The pistol does more damage, incidentally. In case you used the rifle.

After a few lost shots I learned to take my time tracking the runners (directly after the shot, keep watching to see where they go, THEN give chase).
The first blood splat will 9/10 times point you wrong.

Also today found out why my elk scores are naff when up til today (grats cremeegg on that massive mule!! :D) I've been leading the other boards in our little mini-league: http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=4221&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

I've only been shooting the curly antlers, when the V are much higher scoring :(

DOH!

i always try to come from behind on them :D

pffttt wind direction.

this is what i do.

spot/ hear elk(very rare i track them wastes too much time)
sprint to rough location and get binos straight forward then crouch.

if i can see elk in view i will prone crawl over to it if on meadow.you can go right up to its feet if careful enough.watch its head movement you can normally tell when its going to spot smell you.

main thing is location.

middle meadow on map(forest on right),middle lake area, and large meadow near the tippee wigwam are best elk spots.

always watch the smallest elk if in a group as thats the one that always spots you and alerts the others :D its what they do in real life the big ones feed/rest while the little ones keep look out :p
