The Huw Edwards situation

I bet you wouldn't at all.

People never do, only when its basically either "come out" or someone else will do it.

The sun have basically manipulated you to do this. Its literally their standard mo.
Push a narrative so hard in the public domain it takes on life of its own.

After the first couple of days it started to seem odd, each day more and more.
He was in the situation you mentioned come out or someone else will do it. But even in that situation he didn't come out.

He's making Schofield look good when he came out as gay. The difference is Schofield could justify his sexuality to himself.

I haven't read The Sun since they dropped a couple of points.

Well, no, it's not impossible to know, people post birthdays for example (some balloons with 17 on them would be an obvious clue that someone was 17). We don't know what he knew in advance as we don't have access to this Instagram to see the pictures/context or to make a judgment re whether this person looked 17 or looked 20 say.

Yes, they could be but they weren't and more to the point it's just reckless regardless. By itself it's a mild story in context it's a bit dubious... if he's slid into that kid's DMs then did he do the same with other followers?

Ditto to the dating site... did he go onto a dating site and get exactly one match and only meet with that one person during lockdown or did he get more than one match/meeting?

Maybe he liked browsing dating apps. People are weird, clearly he has sexuality issues and is suffering from depression, people do stupid **** at the best of times and he clearly wasn't in the best of times.

Look my opinion on this is its just that rag The Sun seeing a chance to hurt the BBC and they thought they'd do it even though they knew the story was so weak they dare not name the personality due to the litigation risk. So they have ruined the life of the presenter and the kid for their own anti BBC agenda. I hope its possible for them to take the Sun to the cleaners and we should be looking at a proper privacy law in this country, just being famous shouldn't mean your private life can be published to satisfy the publics appetite for salacious gossip.

Empathy means to put ourselves into someone elses place. If I was him and thought I hadn't done anything wrong I would have gone public, especially when my name was all over social media.

Thats not the meaning of empathy. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

What you are doing is showing a lack of empathy.

And how did he receive the pictures that he allegedly paid 35k for? They must have timestamps on the files. The 35k is a lot for some pics to some random stranger / Instagram follower.

Some girl, I can't remember her name was charging money for her bath water and is now a multi millionaire. People pay stupid money for this stuff. Why is beyond me when there is endless free porn out there.

Who was going to out him.
Sun had bottled it.
BBC clearly wernt at least until something more concrete.

Im not saying the sun specifically got you to do something cos you read it, but its literally their mo, getting people talking about it.

What a bin fire of a thread this has turned out to be.

Some people trying to take the moral high ground is hypocrisy at its highest.

Check your posts in any Andrew Tate thread before you all criticise people.

Moraly wrong. JFC.

I think we really are seeing the worst of the worst of 'opinions' here.
You'd better sit down and pour yourself a stiff one because this doesn't happen too often, in fact I reckon unicorn **** is a more common occurrence, but I am in complete agreement with you on this.

I've seen users make a thread on this forum to question how to do something like say "how to deal with upcoming rebellious teenager years".. And like 50 percent of the replies are about how they are a bad parent, need to have child taken away from them.

I'm sure you'd have seen sense and not gone public just because you're innocent.

In fact, if you look at games like among us and the board game versions, talking makes you look guilty. People want to twist your words to make you the bad guy. Better to be vague and say nothing at all.
This is false, because not saying anything can also make a person look guilty.

It really depends on the situation. A person must judge when to talk and when to stay quiet. There is no blanket rule.

Even though the police aren't perusing it reckon his time must be up at the BBC

Yes, definitely..

BBC says presenter facing 'yet more allegations'

Separately the BBC reported Edwards was facing "yet more allegations of inappropriate behaviour" - this time towards his colleagues at the corporation.

Two current colleagues and a former BBC staff member said they had received inappropriate messages from the presenter.

One told BBC News they were contacted this year with a flirtatious message which referenced their appearance.

Another said they felt messages they received were an abuse of power.

We do end up in a weird situation with our varying age of consent/adulthood rules.

It's being reported the girl was 17 (when payments started anyway) and if that's the case and nothing happened earlier then we are in a position that they could have probably legally had sex with the person, but having a naked picture of them is child pornography.
Indeed - and a 16 year old can be married off by the parents but child prostitution if they allowed photos for cash.

This is one of those instances where mob rule is not the answer so leave it to the police (or there could be grounds for throwing the case out due to problems with investigation or bringing the case to court).

Just waiting for the same to float to the top of the minsterial cesspool in the HoP.

I also suspect it will not be the last time with BBC/other “arts and culture”.

Personally given there’s a complete lack of evidence of anything provided, and certainly no criminality according to the police, I hope the BBC or indeed Huw Edwards’ family absolutely ruin the Sun over this. I’d love to see that newspaper disappear into the depths of hell where they belong.

There had been rumours for a few years about the lad who he was connected with. The gay people I know were annoyed at Schofield as he has been living a gay lifestyle for years. But on tv he never acknowledged it.

There were photos circulating about him in the run up to him coming out on This Morning. After that the talk died down. I'm not sure why it got brought up again.

I noticed earlier today talktv had David Mellor commenting about the story. Mellor was involved in the undercover sting by the Sun of Miss Whiplash. Spanking and toe sucking were part of the story. He didn't retire from being a government minister until it came out he'd been accepting money and holiday homes. He's still around. So people can get through these scandals.

If nothing illegal happened with Edwards then it wouldn't surprise me in this day and age if he reappeared on another organisations media content, if he wanted to.

At the end of the day, his response to all this suggests he is ashamed of what he's done, so it doesn't matter what any of us think if he thinks he's done something to be ashamed of, in his line of work you absolutely cannot have any skeletons in the closet and if you do, the best thing you can do is just own them and say "yeah, so what" and not give a **** what anybody thinks because in a week nobody will give a **** anyway

You think he’s going to want all this raked up in court? Not to mention why hasn’t his lawyers already had a pop at The Sun if it’s slam dunk? It’s quite telling that his wife waited until the police confirmed no further action before releasing the statement - why would that be necessary if this was all some big misunderstanding? He is basically just another sleaze that has abused his position and got caught.
