You have to pay it regardless of whether you watch the BBC or not (for most of us with a TV).
Also, the government can take away the BBC's license fee at any moment. The government approves the charging of it or otherwise, and the government makes it a legal requirement to pay.
So, yeah...
BBC will go into general taxation.. I bet!

Currently it seems far too many people especially in the media which has always been a cesspit of depravity.
You can't just opt out of watching the BBC though, by cancelling your TV licence you lose access to all live broadcasts regardless.

If you cancel a TV licence but they catch you watching anything but 'on demand' TV programmes (netflix and the like), you are buggered
