***The iOS 5 Thread***

OK I have windows 7 machine, I've downloaded and sync'd my IP4 on iTunes beta, and I have IPSW file, how do I upgrade my handset now :confused:

Try running it and nothing happens, do I need to do it on a Mac?

All the new little touches are cool, it's worth doing. I just hope I don't have to download it all again on release day although I have a suspicion I will.. :P

OK slight issue, I did a backup before and I can see all the app's in a folder within the music folder but its restoring a blank phone every time?

No pictures, music, apps, contacts nothing? nightmare :(

Dunno why, this release is the GM release to developers. No code if any changes from now. The next one will be a .1 update. 5.1 something like that.

I will be doing a restore to 4.3.5 as they will still be signing the ipsw's for bait then an upgrade to public release just to ensure it all goes smooth.

I will then release the public release on my site once it appears on iTunes.
 
No idea what I'm doing wrong here... Downloaded Snowbreeze, did simple mode, used the created ISPW in the restore mode and it just keeps stopping at "Activating Your iPhone" and I can't seem to activate it from iTunes as it says that I don't have a sim card in the phone??

What you using sn0wbreeze for just flash that phone as normal from iTunes.

Just restored through iTunes and it's still saying that it doesn't have a sim card in it and that it can't activate? :confused:
 
Obviously it does have one in. It's got the same Orange sim card that I've been using for the last 2 years. And was working 2hrs ago before I tried this.
 
How do I activate it without connecting it to iTunes? If you mean over the Wi-Fi? I've tried, it just says that it cannot activate the phone as the servers are temporarily down, but activating through iTunes doesn't work either.

Maybe the activation servers are down for a while then.

1. Remove your sim card, turn it on. Put it into iTunes and then put the sim card into it to see if it finds it.
2. Try activation from another PC and reboot your router.
