If you're running iOS5 GM and it does need updating (unlikely), just do it OTA.

iOS 5 has not been released via iTunes yet - will not be released officially until tomorrow evening UK time

Given that iOS 5 is released tomorrow, there's really no point in updating to the GM at this time.

The GM won't expire, it also most likely won't ask for an update. Unless 5.0.1 etc is released.

My advice to anyone willing to listen-
If you're not on the GM already: just wait til tomorrow and you won't have to faff about with shift+restore and downloading ipsw's.

If you're on the GM: if you can be bothered to restore again tomorrow, do so. If not, it's no big deal, it's unlikely anything will change in the final release. The only issue I foresee with staying on the GM is with future updates, and they're not really important at this point in time.

Fine for me on Lion and Win 7. Do you have itunes set to start up when you connect your device?

That's not coming yet in the UK. Only apps and books will download to all your devices when purchased at the moment.
