*** The iPad Air thread ***

Anyone got ios 7.1 on ipad air?, as would like to know if these bugs (safari crash, refresh tabs, rebooting etc) have been remedied:)

Had an ipad air for a week, and sent it back under dsl. Mine didnt "crash "-that much, but enough to have a rethink about it, as its a superb piece of kit. Mac forums seem to havd people reporting low memory in diagnostics (I did too)

Works fine for me so far.

7.1 working great so far, no crashes back to home screen and I currently have 7 tabs open on this forum and can jump between them without them refreshing. I'm using chrome.

Can't really recommend the official ipad leather case in brown. It absorbs the oils from your hands and wherever you hold it becomes darker over time. Probably wouldn't be a problem for the black one. My 5 case has done the same.

Looking to get an iPad Air, is the 3G model really worth it as opposed to just tethering?

Depends on your usage. I use it for work when out of the office and whilst I could tether, I prefer that it just works without having to do anything. Plus I'm on a shared dim data package with EE so I'm not paying anything extra for it above and beyond the Air purchase price.

Went for the 32gb WiFi model in the end, love it so far!

Looks nice but I'm not sure about those rubber stoppers that must be touching the screen when the fronts closed. Let us know what its like when you get it.

Well it arrived and to be honest it's really nice. It has a nice feel to it, the rubber stoppers are very soft and dont put any pressure on the screen at all.

To be honest it's what you get with Spigen, a top quality product. The rubber stoppers are for when you want to use the tablet in landscape mode or keep it upright on your lap or a desk.

I'm on my third air, first one black 32gb cellular realised I didn't need cellular or 32gb so sent it back, replaced it with a white 16gb wifi only to realise I hated white so sold it (as brought it in store) and just took delivery of a black wifi 16gb! £310 new and sealed from a rather popular auction site, sorted!

Upgrade to 7.1 is night and day IMO.

7.1 is More like night and dawn to me. Still some way to go.
Crashes are less frequent but still happen.

Biggest issue for me is the constant Safari tab refreshing which still is an issue. 3 tabs open and no other apps apart from mail and still they refresh. Tried Chrome (which I don't like as much as Safari) and it's better but still has the problem.

Could well simply be the Air that's the issue but I'm seriously considering selling up and getting the new Galaxy note.

I just assumed tab refreshing when flicking was due to the low amount of ram in the ipad and there was absolutely no way to resolve it.
Might it be resolved in the future?

I suspect you may be right. Not good enough really on a premium product.
There was speculation that the move to 64 bit would cause problems with the low RAM.
What seems odd to me is that I have this problem irrespective of how many other apps are open. You would have thought the RAMcould be managed better.

I bet the next air has 2gb ram though.

It might not, the might eventually get around to replacing the ipad2 which is still their second line in the bigger ipad model, and replace it with the air, replacing the air in turn with the 'pro' and its extra ram.
We shall see.
