*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

If it's just to add things withought using iTunes, like just want to copy over a new song you just been emailed, i use DiskAid. Going to go have a look at that mediamonkey tho, as diskaid does have a habbit of crashing now and again.

Been paid my overtime money today too, sooooo tempting to go upgrade to the 3Gs, but i dont think i could take the pain my gf would bring on me :(

Well my 3GS went back to o2 today after the random crashing/switching off problems i've had. Bit of a pain in the ass, I called o2 and explained the situation and they said they would only exchange it if I could prove to them it was faulty. Bit difficult seeing as it randomly shut down and I'd already wiped the phone ready for a replacement. So I took the handset back under the 14 day return policy and asked for a full refund - which I got with no questions asked.

Got a 3GS on PAYG and Simplicity, but its had to go back. I'm based in Docklands and can barely get edge, let alone 3g or HSDPA signal. Poor considering my Vodafone e71 is sat next to it with full HSDPA signal :'(

Hi Guys

Going to purchase my first iPhone (3Gs) can't wait :D

Does it make any difference if I buy from o2 or CPW??

And do they ever give extra's like cover etc or is it just the handset and that's it!

Thanks..

You might be able to get them to throw in a free invisield at CPW or something.
Other than that there's the £45 quidco cashback from CPW if you order online

I phone 3 GS in my car

Chaps , I have just purchased an I phone 3GS on an O2 contract and was wondering how it would perform in my car ?

I have a BMW E46 320D with a Buisness CD player with Bluetooth .

I have no worries about it working as a bluetooth device for hands free use as most phones do .

However couple of questions if you can please help me please?

1. How do i go about connecting the I phone to use as an MP3 player into the stereo , I have a multifunction steering wheel ?

2. If i do manage to get this converted will I still be able to recieve calls over the bluetooth connection ?

3. Can anyone reccomend a good car cradel for a BWM , would prefer to have it near or around the centre console rather than stuck on the windscreen .

If you CD player has the correct input you could just run a 3.5mm cable from the headphone jack of the iPhone to the headunit.

Now, BMW might have iPod control, but I don't have experience with that so your best bet is to ring them first.

Finally, if you have the car paired with the iPhone then I can't see why you couldn't use the bluetooth to talk hands-free too (the music will fade out if your listening to any).

Hope this helps.

Quick question. Bluetooth headsets with iPhone does it support any form of voice dialing? Either Nokia style (works it out) or Sony style where you teach it words?

Or is it some form of addon if so how much does it cost?

Apologies for hijacking thread here for a minute - I use Gmail for my personal email. Is it best to add this to the iPhone's mail program as web-mail (by choosing the 'Gmail' logo when you set up a new account) or as IMAP (which I believe is achieved by activating POP/IMAP in your Gmail options and then setting it up as a manual IMAP account from within the iPhone)?

If I don't make sense here please forgive me - don't actually own an iPhone yet but am just trying to see what life would be like with one...

Up to you really - either will give you the same end-result. If you use the GMail icon it just basically automates the process of setting it up for IMAP as GMail uses non-standard ports.

Picked up my 32gb one today since they didnt have the 16gb white in, so thought sod it lol. Restored from my previous 3G iphone, been spot on :)

How do you do this? - is it exactly the same settings as your old iPhone now?

I had to order online at the apple online store been to every shop today don't have any except black ones :(
