Same with me. I finally decided to get one but I just can't justify the 32GB one.
Oh well, maybe by next week I'll have decided not to bother.

Upgrading to iPhone 3GS with 6 months left to go on my iPhone 3G contract... a plan

iPhone 3G 8GB in excellent condition is going for £220 - 250 on eBay.

iPhone 3GS costs £440.40 on PAYG.

People (like me) who got the iPhone 3G at launch have at 6 months to go on their contract.

After 6 months is up, the second hand market is going to be swamped with iPhone 3G 8GBs, and the price will drop like a bomb.

I am thinking of buying the 3GS, for £440, selling the 3G now while it is still sought after (£225), and then at the end of me 6 months selling the 3GS (I reasonably estimate I'll get at least £300 for it) and renewing my contract to get a free phone.

So, this means that for the remainder of my contract I will have a better phone, and (excluding the £35 per month I am now paying on O2 per month for my iPhone plan, which I will have to pay whether I like it or not), have made £85.00 in the process.

Is there a flaw in my plan?

Why would you bother selling it at the end of your contract?

Just keep using the 3GS and keep your contract rolling ready for the NEXT iPhone so you're not in this situation again.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Selling my 8GB 3G (or probably giving it to my girlfriend if she decides she wants it) then just keeping the 3GS until the next iPhone arrives so I can upgrade without any messing around.

I'm sure you can reset them in itunes. There was a post about it here recently.

Ok, would be great if you or someone could link me too it as looking in iTunes, to de-authorize, it asks you to sign in and from there I guess that it de-authorizes your current account, which isnt what I want.

I thought all of the activation issues had now been resolved - I've activated 2 for family members this evening and both went through in about 30 seconds.
Well, mine took 50hrs to activate.

I'm going to write an e-mail to O2 when I can be bothered. A friend bought an iphone same time, place, model and tariff as me. His was activated in 10 mins.. mine wasn't. Go figure.

I think you have to go on the actual authorized PCs then. I don't think they will make it easy to de authorize other ones without using up the 5 because it's not really necessary.

Ok, bit of a tricky situation now then. As the other activations, arent on physical PC's, Ive just used the same PC but overwritten win7 with the lastest build each time and forgotten to deauthorized my iPhone each time...what a bummer

May as well keep my question in here...

I've got a UK iphone, but am in Sweden for the week.

I'm on the "Small Business Regular User with iPhone Bolt On" tariff that has 'unlimited' text messages. I know 1 abroad sms = 4xbundle sms... BUT do these come out of the unlimited bit?

If someone knows - or fancy's asking O2 - ... that'd be great :D

Gah, just got back from holiday with the intention of buying a 16GB and they're out of stock everywhere :(

Can I really justify the extra money for a 32GB?.. I WANT IT NOW :D
