You will have to pay extra for insurance and most likely itemised billing as most places charge

Thanks, also is the gps working for it? Read a few reports thats apple where having problems with it?

Think iam going to go for the 16GB, originally was going for the 8 but think in the future the extra £60 will be worth the extra space.

Mine worked fine but not its on and off, sometimes it can find me and sometimes it cant. Might just be me though

On my fourth iPhone 3G. (See: Poor quality control).

1) Dust under glass
2) Light leaking
3) Battery problems, GPS faulty
4) Seems to be good so far

Get a solid 5 bar 3G signal at work and a solid 5 bar EDGE signal at home (which is alright as I have Wi-Fi anyway).

GPS finds me (as in "tracking") in about 20 seconds, where my previous one just span and span and would never go beyond the vague crosshair.

Never had a dropped call, and battery life on my new one is amazing (Actually got a good 5 hours of iPod listening to Lossless music, 30 mins of 3G browsing, Wi-Fi turned on, PUSH data from MobileMe and hourly fetch data activated... and still over a solid 85%)

If you aren't happy.. complain and get it replaced. Or wait until the 32GB revision in the new year.. it's inevitable.

Anyone have a stupidly poor battery?
Mine went from 100% to completely dead in 9hours of sitting on my desk with the screen turned off :/

thats unlucky!
Im on my 2nd iphone V1 and 2nd 3G.
Least you didnt get dispatched a "used" one like I did.

Plus if I enable 3G. from full o2 signal and edge connected
3G enables and the o2 signal fully drops.. the automatically switches back to edge and o2 signal fills up..

Really have not enjoyed the iphone 3g experience. you'd think a month in and it would start been more appealing. I feel its getting worse.

My last one did.. so I sent it back for a replacement.

@Fstop11.. How do you know you got a used one?

Yay, got the 16Gb black. What protection is everyone using to keep it in good condition?

What are the first things I should do guys, ive not read this whole thread, should I jailbreak it?

because I was sent a white one as an upgrading customer. When I found out you couldnt get the white ones I phoned the carphonewarehouse n asked them and was told I didnt get sent one as they dont have them. I told them I did and someone else told me to return it for a refund or replacement.

came in the black box too. I didnt know the white ones came in the white box until I googled it.
plus its useage meter was off zero but thats it.
I have noticed that the battery lasts twice as long on the replacement. some punks obviously got a rubbish one n done the old switcharoo.

What gets me more is the fact this keeps happening to me! happened when I bought a Xbox 360 too.

Have you updated to 2.0.1 yet? If not, use the jailbroken version as the official one changes the baseband of the iPhone, which will potentially render unlocking it in the future impossible.

As for jailbreaking, you could do when doing the above, but there isn't really anything worth jailbreaking for yet. IMHO.

As for protection, have a look here. Couple of sarcastic answers, but a couple of decent ones too. I'm looking at getting one of the invisible shields.

Same. Going to keep it on for the first few months at least!

I thought there is only a 7.50 insurance available for it?

You can find out in the settings somewhere, or by plugging it into iTunes. For a simple quick answer though, did iTunes ask you to update your iPhone to the latest version when you first plugged it in?
