If a new iPhone is released in the 18 months, you will most likely be given the option to upgrade for free or a small cost. You can then sell the old one.

There is no fair usage policy for data on the iPhone. So no need to worry about that

Anyones iPhone run very slow? Opening texts and general apps is slow, text can sometimes take 10seconds. Really dont want to do a restore as I really cant be bothered having to put all my music back on again

Also, I take it you have gone for PAYG, make sure you give o2 a call and select the tarrif you want to be on, to make the most out of your PAYG sim :D

I can't find anything on O2's website stating what you have said, only this:

POP3 Email Accounts do not work. Its terrible. Was working perfect with old iPhone but this new one just hates every account i have.

I have free Bristol Uni wireless along with free BT Openzone, WiFi is useless, as is 500 mins (I use about 650 a month). Voicemail not needed.

I can get 3G internet, 350 mins and 650 mins for £22.50 a month, which fits me perfectly.

O2 contracts suck bigtime.
 
Looks like an unlock should be pretty soon - iphone dev team have managed access to the baseband - anyone like to comment how long it took on the 1st gen after this stage? Im gagging for a soft unlock.

For this reason is why I went on PAYG. I was looking at the same as you, except the 8GB but the £35 a month + £100 for the phone, over the period of 18 months total payable was £730+.

I then looked at a PAYG version, and noticed that with the select a tarriff offer & o2 rewards, I was getting roughly the same as I would for just toping up £10-£15 a month, as I would have if I went with a monthly Tarriff.

Before I went to PAYG I thought about 'what if a new iphone comes out, will I get a upgrade if on Pay Monthly?', so I rang o2 and they told me they is no plans as yet for a new iPhone (which we all know) but even if a new one was to come out and I wanted to upgrade it would cost me around 60% of the market value & my 18month contract would restart from the time I take the upgrade.

Although I have paid £350 for the phone, I can always sell it, but another, and im saving money, alright maybe not a lot but its atleast a good £250-£300 a year.

Also, the Web is almost unlimited, I have spent some days, streaming music from Last.fm, or even just browsing (can't put the phone down its that good).

So I would pretty much say you can browse as much as you like.
 
Hi guys,

My contract is out next month (yey). Was thinking of going for a iphone 3g (8gig). A couple questions:

* Should I?
* Do they now support MMS?
* What does jailbreaking do and is it worth doing?
* Are they a lot better than the HTC diamond touch pro?

Yes, definitely

No they don't

It lets you install non authorised apps and things like that - I can't say I've ever seen the need for it so my phone is still stock

In my opinion, yes - I found the touch thing slow and generally pretty rubbish.

Try both and see what you prefer - I could never go back to a 'normal' phone now I've had mine for nearly a year. It has its quirks and is by no means perfect but it really is a fantastic phone.

Dont - wait until you get your PAC code - Orange are notorious for messing this up and youve only got a 30 day window after a new O2 contract to use the PAC.

I know of 2 people who have lost their number due to Oranges incompetence
