The last game you completed, and rating (Console Edition)

Picked up Horizon Forbidden west for £17. Played about 45-50 hours. Did a little bit of the side quests, plenty of gear upgrading and just finished the main story.

Really enjoyedared to Zero Dawn which I gave up with after about 5 hours.

Probably a firm 7 or 8 out of 10 for me. I don't have the energy to complete many games these days and this one had me absorbed. Especially when you gain access to a particular style of mount just near the end of the game.

Xenoblade chronicles 3 on the switch.

7/10

I'm a sucker for these games and I did really enjoy it but I think I tried a little too hard to do too many side quests etc and over leveled too many quests. Content became too repetitive over time and the repetition of certain voice lines did have me gritting my teeth a bit.

Horizon Forbidden West - was really enjoyable and again graphics looked great but did very little exploring and just maimed the story as historically I have done everything and then got open world fatigue from it. Story was interesting as well and sets stuff up in Horizon 3 interestingly.

8/10

Planet of Lana - 9/10

Such a beautiful little game and another glorious demonstration of QDOLED, stunning. Another gem found thanks to gamepass.

Started this now, very intriguing indeed but I don't think it will satisfy my curiosity by the end...

If you don't get to explore inside one of those big space ships, I'll be disappointed. And if anything happens to that little black furball that is your friend, I'll blub.

Judgment - 8/10

Might be 9/10 for people new to Yakuza as it's a very good game with a compelling story, interesting characters, fun combat and the trademark atmosphere of the series.

I'm just so used to it as a long-time fan that the formula tires me out a bit quicker and I was somewhat annoyed by the overabundance and execution of tailing missions.

Other than that, plenty of quality side content as usual, great balance between quirky bits and a serious story that is one of the best in the series, really enjoyable combat with lots of heat actions (bar the silly ragdolls but they're pretty hilarious themselves:p) and super unique atmosphere of Japanese districts with enterable restaurants/buildings, real products etc., the only series on the market that nails this.

Highly recommended as an entry point for people new to these games.

Just started Lost Judgment and the already good combat has been improved tremendously which is great, the Snake style is just stupid fun and Crane being way more usable further enhances the gameplay.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor (PS5)

Good overall and better than Fallen Order in most cases, though I thought the story was very average, traversing some of the areas and figuring out puzzles was at times really annoying. The combat was quite awful as well in general, I also had to drop down difficulty to story mode just so I didn’t get fed up with it with the latter bosses, but that’s just me being crap, although something felt different with the combat compared to Fallen Order.
Performance as well still needs fixing but resolution mode was fine mostly.

7/10

God of War: Ragnarok - 4/5

Fantastic game, great story, just didn't hit the heights of the 2018 version and the map/navigation, especially when in the boat, was infuriating at times.

Played the game on Balanced but had to drop it all the way down to 'I have no hands' mode to beat King Hrolf and Gna who were absolutely brutal.

Ghosts of Tsushima PS5. 7/10 - Fantastic but overdesigned, if the movement was better and there was slightly less errands to do then 9/10

Pros:
Wonderfully crafted story, got me emotional at times
Great deep colours on landscapes
Nice progression system kept me interested throughout each act with its pacing of new abilities.

Cons:
The absolutely beautiful weather effects make it hard to see things you need to do quite often, which is a shame as it all looks amazing
Too much to do? this is subjective but felt like I had to do a couple hundred side quests/shrines/fox dens/mythic tales. My total platinum time is over 50 hours.
Janky movement at times. Kept getting stuck on geometry especially during intense combat/searches. Wants to be Assassins Creed but doesn't quite pull it off, very frustrating.

Resident Evil 4 Remake on PS5. Best single-player game I have played this year. Full of nostalgia and enough new to keep it interesting to fans of the original. 9/10

Same for me, nothing this year has toppled it for me so far. It's practically perfect both technically and gameplay-wise with insane replay value on top of that.

Titanfall 2 again, not played since release. Such an awesome game and story, graphics still look fantastic and the combat and movement is so satisfying.

It's not often I finish a game and think about it afterwards, most of the time I'm relieved to have finished it but this game is up there with the best.

Such a shame they canned the 3rd

Now I'm stuck looking for a story driven FPS to play, bored of MP games and can't find anything I haven't played relatively recently

Really hoping their Star Wars FPS has the same feel and fun factor!
