The last game you completed, and rating (Console Edition)

Lake - 7/10. A somewhat interesting little indie experience with some slight Life is Strange vibes, but I feel like the story and characters could have been so much better. On PS5 it looked and felt like a PC game ported straight over from PC without much extra effort put in, e.g. no vibration or DualSense support, some fiddly controls and on-screen elements.

Spider-Man remastered on the ps5. 8/10 graphics and storyline was spot on but combat got repetitive after a while. Feeling burnt out already after finishing the DLCs so going to move on to ragnarok before starting miles morales.

Ratchet & Clank - Rift Apart, 9/10

Excellent game, good nostalgia trip, few little chuckles out of it, and it looks great and runs really smooth. So glad it's coming to PC so more people can experience it (and I'll probably play it again)

Completed Days Gone's main story - reckon it's a solid 7 out of 10 game, glad I tried it again (5th or 6th time), but there were far too many cut scenes for my liking - and often annoyingly paced too; felt like you'd walk a few feet then boom into a one, then walk some more and get hit by another few!

Struggling to get into it.

My gaming enthusiasm these days seems to be buying games I can find for cheap then just leaving them in my digital library forever.

Can't put my finger on it. I went from Ratchet to Miles Morales and even that feels like a chor to play, though swinging round the City is mildly entertaining for a few minutes.

This is me, but a few games get my attention and I'll play to completion.

I'm normally like this, my gaming brain restricts me to playing the same old ranked-based shooters or Rocket League for eternity, gotta get that dopamine feedback loop; occasionally I'll get a burst of energy and do nothing else but play new/different games, which allowed me to complete R&C and TLOU over a couple of days, then straight back to same old rubbish until Zelda TOTK came out -- been hammering that recently.

I've been the same. Elden Ring grabbed me, but since then nothing has until TOTK. It feels like it takes something really special for me to want to play at the moment.

I seem to have abandoned Rift Apart as well. Graphics nice but the weapons don't seem as fun to use as in the original R&C. I think it's probably this hot weather contributing to the apathy. It's not the right time of year for gaming.

Same, the hot weather and time of year, makes me really struggle playing games for long periods and not so much that excites me, it’s normally quite a boring time of year for big releases, Autumn/Winter is the time I really get back into gaming.

I managed to finish Stray last night, being a dad of 3 my time is extremely limited. Took me 6 hours in total (over a few weeks lol) and did about 80% of all the collectibles.
Was a fun little game and beautifully distopian.
Not particularly difficult and glad it didn't hold your hand pointing the way all the time.
7/10

Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past

I have mixed feelings on this one. Moments of greatness and but very ‘strait laced’. The lack of humour or weirdness makes it a very dry entry. The lack of audio variety is maddening. That dungeon music (one track for most dungeons) will be in your mind forever. More than other entries, it feels like a ‘tour’. Go here, do that. It lacks lots of minor quality of life improvements implemented as early as Link’s Awakening.

On the plus, the dungeons are generally pretty good, with a truly outstanding dungeon in the ice temple

Overall, I generally prefer Link’s Awakening (mostly for its character/humour).

7/10

Played and completed with my daughter over weekend Bramble The Mountain King on Xbox Gamepass

I'm not one normally for linear games but what a fantastic game

9.5/10 for me and GOTY for me so far

Story had me engrossed

Gameplay great - Boss battles
challenging but fair

Art style was amazing

Music was fantastic

Sound effects fantastic (not sure if it uses Atmos or not but several times I thought it was raining outside and was just game)

Have it downloaded and ready to play for earning game pass rewards. I've heard good things about it from several people.

Excellent use of the DualSense triggers too. When used well that controller really is great.

McPixel 3 had no idea what this was and tbh even after finishing it still not overly sure. Was interesting and something a bit different the retro video game puzzles were good. 7/10
