Witcher 3: 10/10.

What a game. Got to be one of the best ive ever invested time in. What the hell am i going to do now? Lol. I will probably get round to buying the DLC at some point but i think ill give it a little break first.

Anybody have any ideas what can fill the void? Ive heard people mention Rage and Homefront recently. So ill probably go for one of them.
Good idea but don't leave it too long like I did. I found the games systems a bit hard to pick back up for the dlc but got the hang of it all again eventually

I've always heard praise for this game. How well has it aged? May try it myself!

I think it's aged brilliantly. I do play a lot of older games so dated graphics don't bother me in the slightest - perhaps I should state that as some context. However, I still found the 2 main female vampire characters in the game to be smoking hot so surely that says something for the graphics! :D It's thought by many, that the only reason the game isn't better known and regarded as one of greatest RPG games of all time, is that it was quite broken when it was released and the studio went bust shortly after the patch they released which still didn't fix some of the bugs. However the game now has a perfect unofficial patch and what's known as the plus patch which even adds new maps and quests. Best to purchase the GOG version of the game which comes bundled with the unofficial patch. You definitely won't regret getting this game - it's a truly immersive and unique experience.

I feel quite gutted how short Crysis 2 was. Really enjoyed it with the MaLDoHD 4.0 mod completing it for the first time, except for some careless moments with multiple heavy dudes. Gorgeous looking game though but the ending seemed to end so quick or I'm spoiled by PS4 game endings with long credits and achievements, heh!

It was neat how the AI was kneeling and hiding behind parts peeking and shooting over/around walls Uncharted style.

What was the best, Crysis, 2 or 3? Itching to get back into Crysis once I purchase Maximum Edition.

Also loved parts of the soundtrack to Crysis 2. Not quite sure what it reminded me of but it was nice. Felt something from a film? Perhaps Hans Zimmer's style...

Ha! Looked up the GoG version earlier and it was £15. There summer sale has just started and now it's £3.89

Sold at that price :) will try it later

I can usually except a fair bit of aging/jank so I'll try and stick with it :D
It's one I've always wanted to try. Any essential mods or just do the unofficial patch and get playing?

The regulars on the GOG forums recommend playing with just the unofficial patch on your first play through and to save the plus patch with the additional maps and such for later. That's what I did and certainly didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. It's quite rare for me to play through a game a second time, it's just not usually my thing but I'm sure I will make an exception for this game. It does have a high replayability factor given that the dialogue options and story are quite different depending on what class of vampire you choose. I went for the Malkavian (female) which is considered to be one of the more difficult classes to play for the first time as their trait is insanity and at first, it isn't always obvious just what you are saying by the crazy dialogues options. However, these dialogue options are really clever and funny and were a big part of the charm of the game for me so that by far offsets potentially saying the wrong thing - you can quick save at any point in the game too so it's not an issue to go back and start conversations again if you think you steered the wrong way. You might also want to consider the special abilities of each class too depending on what play style you want to use to play through the game. I only used 2 out of the 3 Malkavian powers but one in particular suited my melee play style quite nicely. That's not to say that choosing the wrong class would be a game changer anyway as you can still spend your skill points to suit the way you want to approach the game. I didn't know any of this before the starting the game though - my decision for class and sex of vampire was purely because the female Malkavian was wearing a cheerleader outfit with a plunging neck line and thong on display! :D

Haha I like that reason for choice, no judging here whatever floats your boat ;)

I'll have a look, I'm quite intrigued now. Great informative post, Thanks! You clearly had a great time with this one.

I think I'd just do the patch too and the vanilla content, then can always look at the additional stuff later

Witcher 3 - 10/10

It's taken me since release to complete this beast. I've now got the DLC's to complete! I replayed it a couple of times but never getting to the final chapter. This time round, I finally did it. It's one of my most favourite games, if not. My #1, I was so scared to finish it as I didn't want the story to end, but I just had to do it.

For the main story alone as I've not started either of the DLC's.

Your in for a treat, one of the quests in Hearts of Stone was just stunningly done

Tales from the borderlands. Bought it on pc but never played it. Got it on PS4 and completed and loved it. 9/10 and a massive grin on my face so many times and especially at the end!

What a brilliant game and great experience! I'm now a massive fan of the franchise. Played some BL2 before and copped out but now think I'm going to explore the BL games again!

Alan Wake.

Liked the beginning, but it got repetitive towards the end. It was made hard by lack of ammo & throwing enemies at you which you couldnt really outrun (in places). I found myself getting annoyed with his character & the girlfriend as well, which doesnt help - and towards the end I just wanted it to finish so I could see the story, which doesnt end till you do the DLC, which I didnt. I googled that part because I was tired of the same gameplay.

6/10?

The gameplay is repetitive, and hardly revolutionary... But I have a real soft spot for this game. The story is deceptively deep when you get in to it. I was totally hooked by the story and honestly consider it one of my favourite stories in a game.

But yes, the dlc is just more of the same, so if you were bored by the end(understandable) there isn't much point getting it tbh... Though it does end in an interesting way.

Yeah i liked the start, and (much like a king novel) I should add it does have a cool story. but mannnnnn I ended up going through the motions a bit to unlock the next part. A different gameplay mechanic or something would have lifted it a bit
