The last game you completed, and rating.

Mario Galaxy 2
9.5 / 10

One of the best games ever made.

Haven't finished a PC game for a long, long time. I don't really have the time these days (wife, kid, job, etc) so usually play stuff that doesn't need to be completed as such. Having said that, just got Deus Ex:HR and am determined to finish it - even if it takes a while :p

Red Faction : Armageddon.

+ve's

* graphics were pretty good, vibrant colours
* a.i. seemed decent
* geomod destruction was as good as ever
* cut scenes were overall very good
* variety of vehicles your character can operate
* upgradability of skills was quite well done
* dedicated saves as well as checkpoints
* somewhat unpredictable events in the storyline
* the ability to repair the environment was an interesting addition
* one of the very, very rare occasions where I was glad to have arrows showing me where to go
* surprisingly, didn't seem to work the gpu very hard, low temps - more of an observation than anything else

-ve's

* like most games, this went on for too long for me
* sprint duration was poor - too common in games imo
* prefered the humanoids as enemies by far compared to the insectoids - of which there was an almost never ending number
* magazine sizes for the weapons could have been a little more - reloading became a little tedious
* very linear

6/10 - Pretty good overall, though I found it to be a game that I usually couldn't play for long periods.

I can never get my head around this myself sure a limit is required for game balance but in most FPS your playing as some high trained special opps/solider type character who should be at the peak of physical fitness yet in a game like CoD you sprint for 10 yards and your character sounds like he's about to have a heart attack.

Crysis 2

7/10. Pretty looking game once you install all the high res textures etc, fun for while but feels very generic and gets boring after a while.

So like many I can`t wait for the new Xcom to come out and to get my fix I started playing Incubation (yeah proper oldschool I know) Would give it a 8.5/10 but the horrible voice acting makes it into a 9/10 :D

It`s quite challenging at first but as you level up your soldiers the game becomes a bit too easy and they`ll obliterate anything in their path.

Sexy graphics or what?

Halo 2 13/20

+Some nice cutscenes
+Fairly seamless level progression, the mid-level "Loading..." is very subtle and in fact several levels were pretty much chained together with no noticeable intermission save for a cutscene
+Better than Halo; when you break the game down into its base components, it is pretty ordinary, but it kept me coming back for more
+Excellent performance, solid 120fps
+Nice to play as the Arbiter as well as Master Chief
+Although it is a bit cheesy I liked the fact that you could just run through some sections rather than having to kill every last baddie
+A couple of epic sections such as when you are supporting Sarge in the big robot thing

-Very poor graphics for a game that came out the same year as Crysis, in fact they are significantly worse than even 2004 games such as FC/D3/HL2. The indoor textures in particular are incredibly bland and look like something out of, well, Halo!
-Some checkpoint triggers to progress the game are a bit contrived, there was one big room where you win a fight I was then wandering around for about 2mins before I finally walked on the right pixel and moved things on.
-Weapon controls are a bit fiddly, much as with Halo swapping weapons over can be a bit of a faff
-Final boss was a bit disappointing, both in terms of the fight itself (save for AI help) and the ending which feels like I have unfinished business.
-Too easy on Normal difficulty, some levels I completed without dying
-No indicator of which way you need to go, its all a bit 1990s really.
-Combination of linear progression and repetitive level design isn't a good one
