Shadow Of The Tomb Raider
9/10

Completed with 16 hours on the clock, but you could probably shave off an hour or two. I've went back to the 1st base camp and will now go through the map getting 100% completion. I normally leave a game for a while before doing that, but the exploration is completely separate from the "story" so it's still very fresh and enjoyable. There are side missions to complete also.

This is a bit of a showcase game in terms of graphics, and for those that are waiting for a Steam sale in future, it'll still be a treat to play through by the time you pick it up. :)

1 point deducted for the poor story line, but overall a brilliant game if you are a fan of the franchise. And if you aren't, it's one to pick up cheap in the future.

Everybody's gone to the rapture. 7/10
Great atmosphere, setting, voice acting & characters.
Slightly marred by some ropey mechanics, and it sets itself up for the inevitably anticlimactic ending, but the sense of place really makes up for it.
Shows how narrow the choice of location for games is, when dumping you in a rural 80s village feels utterly different.

Hollow Knight. 10/10

A bona fide masterpiece.

Everything is top quality from the level design, animations, music, boss fights to some of my favourite npcs in any game ever.

I bought it for a tenner thinking it might be fun. 52 hours later I have done the main campaign, but still have loads left. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, it is a metroidvania, that is basically 2d dark souls in every way. Sparsely told but deep story, hard as nails combat, awesome boss fights, massive interconnected world with loads of hidden paths and secrets. If I had to pick one stand out though it would be the npcs. Honestly some of my favourite ever. Zote The Mighty is probably my favourite character of all time!
The boss fights also deserve a special mention too. Almost all of then are really well designed, and most are really hard without ever feeling unfair. My favourites were the Mantis Lords and Dung Defender(another awesome NPC!)

I can't recommend this game highly enough.

Subnautica.

8.5/10

Fantastic early and mid game progression slowing later game. Seriously beautiful and immersive environment.

Best story implementation I've seen in ages:
  • Quite loosely tied together with logs you may or may not find, exploring is rewarded with quite a rich story of different survivors lives.
  • First game I've read all the wordy words and actually enjoyed it.
  • Really nice story, not a lot of killing, more run and hide.

Detracting points:
  • Game slows later, feels like its missing something.
  • Map a bit too small to feel really immersive and the map edge is a pain
  • Game cache needs clearing periodically to stop frame drops/popping.

Two Point Hospital

9/10 / 105hrs played

A very enjoyable game with great music, visuals and a unique graphical style. There are AI flaw

It starts off with fun maps to play and gradually eases you into the game over a good few maps before plunging you into scenarios that can be challenging. Unfortunately the end game maps consist of tired challenges that can easily be overcome by just letting the game play itself for a few hours with a bog standard gameplay style. NPC/Patient AI is questionable too with them doing more and more silly things as the hospital increases in popularity.

Having said that, most folks will hugely enjoy the game - I'd say the game is worth a punt if you can find it for £15-20.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider. 85% completion and 39 blissful hours of gaming heaven for me. Stunning visuals along with the mix of exploration, 'platforming', crafting and combat just ticks all the boxes for me. I've been a big fan of the Tomb Raider series since I bought the original on the Playstation from Curry's with my Xmas money when I was 19. I love the rebooted series and have nothing really bad to say about any of the 3 new games. You can see where feedback has been taken into consideration with the increased number of tombs, less combat situations and the ability to turn off the help indicators in Shadow although I never had an issue with any of those in the first place. The most remarkable improvement for me was how much more subtle the climbable areas were in Shadow so it was often a delight to spot some high hidden area I didn't notice the first time around. The story was ok, maybe not quite as good as Rise with the twist it had but hey ho. 9/10

The Evil Within 2.

Bought it cheap because I love a good horror.

Absolutely blew me away at how good it was. Really good story, challenging but fair combat.

Graphics a bit dated in places but loved the visual style overall. It's a relatively long game but never once did I feel like I was grinding to get to the end. 9/10

Have you played the first one? I blitzed that recently and really enjoyed it and have been thinking about getting 2...

I loved it too a very under appriciated title same with the first one

Just finished COD WWII and although the gameplay was same old same old, lots of explosions stunning you, the aircraft part was dire and the tank scenes average it was overall a pretty ok game.

Finished in about 5-6 hours total, the storyline is decent enough that you build bonds with the characters but it's far too short, but I am more of an SP player than MP nowadays.

The cinematics though, wow. Best game I've seen for the video and I'd happily watch an entire film if it was made to the same standard.

8/10

Shadow of the tomb raider. Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Took me 30 hours and still have some left over stuff to do. Really hope they do another. 9/10

Just completed this, was good run and gun fun :) 9/10 as it was going back to it's roots.
