Prototype 2 ------- 15/20

Pro's: The storyline is in my opinion far more compelling than the original, controls and combat feel more fluid while using a keyboard and mouse.

Cons: Sadly the game play is pretty repetitive still, though not as bad as the original it becomes a touch tedious. As others have said the campaign is too short in my opinion.

All in all if you enjoy free roamers, give it a go... in my opinion its better than the infamous games.

Dawnguard- 8/10.

I thought it was an excellent expansion and it was well worth the £8.50 I paid for it. Lengthwise it took about 20 hours to get through all of the content, so I was happy with that. I pretty much played it as the main quest tbh, and there were some really nice environments in it. Also the fight against the 2 dragons that break through the ice was epic.

I was quite surprised actually after reading mixed comments, but I was quite impressed overall. Bring on Dragonborn next!

Gears Of War - 7/10
Played through with a friend on co-op. Great fun but lacking something.

Black Mesa - 8.5/10 (not taking into account that it's fan made or I'd give it 10/10)
A fantastic remake. Great attention to detail throughout.

New to the thread so some games I've finished in 2011/2012.

Mafia 2 - 9/10
A great follow up to one of my fave games. Well worth playing. Something about these driving/shooting games draws me. Excellent atmosphere with awesome characters.

The Witcher 10/10
Awesome game. I must have played the 1st act about 3 times, giving up each time. Finally found the time to stick at it and was hooked through to the end

Deus Ex Human Revolution - 8/10
A worthy Deus Ex game. Not quite as good as the original, but as good as it gets in this day and age.

Mass Effect - 8/10
This one took me by surprise. I dragged myself through the opening mission but once I got the Normandy I could not put the game down.

and finally
Skyrim - 10/10
I played and played this on release and even today I still find myself checking out new mods from the nexus. Now the game has fallen into that Oblivion trap. You know - install mods for 3 hours, then don't bother playing the game. Happened twice now.

Max Payne 3 - 7/10. Looked great, ran smoothly. Fairly interesting plot but the overly long cut scenes got on my nerves and gameplay was slightly repetitive.

Playing through Dishonored at the moment, only just started and I'm finding it to be very enjoyable. Runs like a dream maxed out on my fairly old school system so well pleased with that.

Code of Honor 3: Desperate Measures - 6.75/10

+Surprisingly good graphics for a 7 year old engine, the dynamic lighting in particular is excellent and this is a good showcase for what the Jupiter engine can do when maxed out
+Solid 120fps
+Excellent combat and AI, this game is basically FEAR without all the supernatural ********, just decent fights with satisfying guns and enemies that make good use of cover, grenades etc
+Bit of variety in mission approaches e.g. there is a stealth level, disarm bombs section etc
+Periodic help from squadmates, my kinda FPS

-Very abrupt ending, it feels like only half a game
-Don't really get the storyline/setting, apart from a subway sign saying "Sortie" there is nothing really to indicate you are in France, even all the people talk with American accents
-Loading screen tips say you can carry 4 weapons but I only ever worked out how to access 3

Just the last game I have finished?

Diablo2 8/10
Just finished it in September.

I bought the Lords of Destruction and am going to play that through. So far its a 9/10 the add on really does complete the game and fixes some of the issues I had with the original.

Jade Empire 6/10

+Constant 120fps
+Minigames break things up a bit
+Nice fights towards the end, controlling other characters etc
+John Cleese section
+Usual Bioware depth in terms of lore, conversations etc

-Worst Bioware game I've ever played (behind KOTOR, DA and ME series)
-Only being able to have one companion at a time sucks
-Mediocre graphics
-NPC characters are a bit difficult to distinguish from each other, e.g. when running back into an urban area to claim a quest reward
-Storyline and dialog didn't really grab me that much, about halfway through I stopped exhausting all the conversation arcs, and was skimread-clicking through most of them
-Combat is a big step down from the visceral hack'n'slash of DA2, or the advanced tactics of DA (no middle ground between Attack and Support orders, they either wade in or hide away to leave me doing all the fighting - I'd prefer them to be a bit more dynamic, you know, setting priorities etc)
-Annoying unskippable cutscenes, especially bad when they play out just before a tough fight such as Inquisitor Jao
-Respawning enemies
-Felt like a chore towards the end, just wanted to get through it

I agree 100% with this review, i did enjoy it at first, but it just got stale and repetitive the more you progressed through the game.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of war 2, 8/10

Keeped me hooked from start to finish about 20 hours or so playing time,

Warhammer 40k Dawn of war 2 Chaos Rising 7/10

Carried on with the story quite well, could have been a bit better, added an extra 7-10 hours on game.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of war 2 Retribution 5/10

Started off really well story was good some new ideas in the game compared to (Chaos Rising) would have even giving it a 8/10 untill I finished it and went to start a new campaign with Chaos only to find out all the maps and story is 99% the same as what I just done with Space Marines a let down indeed.

New to this thread here so a few games i have recently completed, which is rare these days and takes a lot for a game to keep hold of me to the end.

Hotline Miami - 9/10
Wow, what a fun and brutal game. couldnt get off it after getting used to the controls. Its hard but not so that you get annoyed and the respawn mechanic is so quick you never have to wait to get back to the action giving it that "one more go" feeling. Cracking music and style too, although the story could be a bit clearer. I hope the devs add more to this game and for only 10 dollars its definatly worth it. Computer game crack

Batman Arkham Asylum 7.5/10
Quite a good game, looks and runs well but i felt it was a bit linear and repetative after i while and i just wanted to get to the end. a lot of batman lore in there though which is always good. A solid game.
Playing through arkam city now, and enjoying it more.

Sleeping dogs - 8.5/10
Very fun game to play. Has a great setting and runs/looks fantastic. I thought the driving was fine as opposed to what some say. hand to hand fighting was very good too but the shooting parts were stale. Story was very good however and kept me hooked to the end. I just wish there was more to do after completion, hopefully some expansions will come out as this game has a lot of potential. Big time worth the play.

Mass effect 1 - 9/10
Best of the series imo. Took me a few tries to get into it at first but once it grabs you it doesnt let go. Great story and mechanics and actually kept me hooked more than 2 did (just started 3 but got bored with it). Deffo the one to play.

Crysis 2 - 6.5/10
Crysis 1 and Far cry 1 are my all-time favourite single player shooters but Crysis 2 was just not up to par of its predecessors. Maybe i just dont like urban settings as much but it just wasnt as fun to play at all, felt clunky like i was on a console and although it had some good looks/textures, crysis 1 is technically better in my opinion (just love the tree breaking mechanic on 1, not seen another game do it so well). I got lost with the story half way through and just wanted to get it over with. Very linear too and felt like i had no freedom contrary of what i was expecting because of the first 2 games. Not bad but not a patch on Far cry or Crysis 1 in terms of gameplay and fun.
