The last game you completed, and rating.

Funnily enough I was just thinking today about any other games in that genre which I could try out. It would have to be seriously good though after BG3 as it's a hard act to follow. It has opened up a whole new genre of games for me so will look into some of those you mentioned - thanks.

BTW I'm shocked that only 22.6% of BG3 players on Steam have the achievement showing that they have finished the game
i agree with above, Divinity original Sin 2 is really really good, it is definitely on Par with BG3 for me and i think if it was released today it would be just as much enjoyed and played as BG3 was/is. It has everything BG3 has just a different story and i do think i preferred the combat mechanics in Divinity 2

Yeah Divinity 2 is one of my favourites of all time. Just something special about that game for me. Probably a bit of a step backwards immediately after BG3, but only in terms of QoL improvements. Probably replay it myself soon.

Divinity Original Sin 2 should be next for you. :)

Dragon's Dogma II - 6/10

Combat was generally enjoyable but even so, it does get repetitive. Also found the game quite short to be honest. The map looks huge so expected a lot more. Pawns creation was interesting....

Some replay value with the different combat styles if you can be bothered.

Deathloop.

The game is very intriguing at the start since you have no idea what's happening. But it slowly starts to make sense as you progress. It takes a while to do so but when it does it gets a lot more exciting and I kept wanting to find out more. The ending as somewhat sad/disappointing but I enjoyed the game and would recommend it readily.

8/10

Took a notion to go back to my previous save which was 90% complete... but couldnt remember a thing. Started from scratch and enjoyed it better than first time round.

Would give it a 9/10 for the unique experience, clever narrative and sequencing, and the lush and vibrant visuals and style. Only let down a little by replayability, some dumb AI, and somewhat unexplained aspects.

Also I'm surprised that 25% of players have completed the ending. Struck me as something very few people would see through to the end

Beyond galaxy land - 7/10

Indie Scifi jrpg made by a solo dev, charming and good fun, it reminds me of old films like The Last Star Fighter and Star Wars etc. Any flaws it has can be forgiven for the 13 quid price and the fact its made by a single person.

Aliens: Dark Descent - 9.5/10

Another excellent alien title, I'm not sure whether this one even surpasses Alien Isolation as it was that good. Slight issues with the controller not responding in certain instances so that's 0.5 off. Otherwise maximum score. I don't think there any other games quite like this one.

Borderlands 3 - 6/10

More of the same as BL2. I had loads of issues with the graphics settings for the game. After the first 10 hours of play, the game suddenly started crashing to desktop with low level fatal error without me changing any of the settings. After much research I managed to find some settings that allowed me to continue playing but made no sense that the game was running before and then started crashing. The graphics were also horrible at times, the gun crosshairs were completely blurry and had to make an educated guess when shooting down the sights. Towards the end managed to find something that slightly sharpened the graphics and worked without crashing. DX12 was essentially a no go for my spec.

The story initially was quite bland but had an interesting twist towards the end which seemed obvious in hindsight given some of the messages you collect along the way. Found the antagonists insufferable but guess thats the characters they have built to portray. Some of the gameplay mechanics are improved over BL2. Feel that BL2 had more character as a game.

Overall I might have enjoyed the game slightly more if not for the crashing issues.

Is it a RTS game or a shoot em up?

Jedi Survivor
Enjoyed this for the first two-thirds or so then thought it started to drag a bit. The platforming I didn't think was quite as obnoxious as the Fallen Order and I liked playing around with the different stances (settled on blaster and crossguard). Story had the easiest to spot "twist" you could wish for, but most of the time I forgot what was supposed to be going on and just had fun with ligthsaber fighting.
Decent enough game. Like, 7/10 ish decent, I guess.

I didn't technically complete everything in it but I recently played Grim Dawn and its expansions. Thoroughly enjoyed it, nice build diversity options and I liked the distinctive art style and combat. 8/10 (competing in a genre with some historical heavy hitters).

Outer Wilds.

Yeah, think I'll need a night to sleep on the whole thing.

Genuinely one of the best gaming experiences I've had (in a similar way to Return of the Obra Dinn actually). Goes from comfy space exploration to you contemplating some of the the most difficult concepts and questions possible.

I don't think I can give it a 10, as it's taken me 3/4 attempts ot get into, usually only lasting 45 / 60 mins or so. But once in, I couldn't leave. Clever, clever game. Ace soundtrack. I loved the visuals, some may think too basic. Controls are great.

9/10

Close to the Sun 6/10

Started off really well with what seemed like a strong story and then just tapered off into mediocre. The game is essentially a walking simulator but had some sections where you have chase sequences (escaping from) which seemed like a very poor game mechanic, eventually not excelling at either being a walking sim or what seemed like an attempt at horror/jump scares elements. The ending left more answers than questions. The puzzles are mostly very easy.

NFS Most wanted 2012 6/10

Wanted to experience the joy of playing the original most wanted from 2005 so thought will give this a go as I had this in my library for ages. Was essentially a gap filler while I moved onto something else since my completions of BL3. The graphics are amazing but the game does not have a background story like the first (which had a sense of revenge). Lots of high end sports car in the game which can be upgraded through unlocks by playing the races for each of those cars. Defeating the top 10 most wanted doesnt really give you a sense of achievement like it did with the original. Its been a while since I have played an NFS game so wasnt sure what to expect but the music is pretty much the sound tracks that have been used in previous titles. The world map seems small and pretty much most races end up/start with a cop chase whilst in race. The initial handling of cars is quite poor until you start upgrading with parts that are unlocked but I reckon you dont need those parts to defeat the list of most wanted i.e you can take the car you win from #10 to beat #9 without upgrading and so on.

Completed Intravenous last night.

Very enjoyable 15h playthrough - I'd give it an 8/10 - and I'll jump into Intravenous 2 next week.
