Alien Isolation on steam deck 8/10

I love nearly everything about this game it's my third play through - though sometimes the alien is annoying more than a threat.

Res Evil 4 Remake - 4/10 I really don't get the hype train with this one, it's just not good

Neva - 9/10

Followup from the studio that made gris, just as visually stunning but this time there's more focus on gameplay adding combat to the game aswell as the platforming.

Inside - 9/10

All about the atmosphere, it's tense and unsettling from start to finish with an interesting world and story that unfolds throughout the game.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided. This is the 2nd time I've completed it since release, but I fancied doing a more completionist playthrough. Although not as good as Human Revolution, it's still a superb game and, in my opinion, better than Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of lore and immersive simulation. Using The Witcher 2 (my all time favourite game; 9/10) as a baseline for scoring, I'd give it an 7.5/10.

Remant: From the ashes 7/10

The story of the game is intriguing although at the start it does not seem to make sense. I found some of the gameplay mechanics a bit clunky, especially in boss battles. The boss battles are quite challenging, especially in solo mode. I think I only managed to defeat 1 or 2 bosses in the first go as for most you had to be patient to learn their primary and secondary attacks while dealing with their minions which frustratingly keep chipping your health away and using items to regen is not instant so you need to ensure that you are not taking those at last minute. The various worlds are beautifully created. The gameplay is fairly linear except in some of the dungeons where the sense of direction can tend to be lost. Lots of hidden loot that you may miss if not searching through every dungeon. The regions/dungeons are randomly generated and you can reroll the campaign in adventure mode for specific worlds. Overall I quite enjoyed it. Might look to get the second one via humble choice as its on deal there. The game allows cross play with xbox and PC.

Starfield - 6/10

The game takes a lot of flak - mostly deserved - tho I enjoyed the main story and most of the main faction & companion side-quests. But the easy fast-travel and **** space combat meant that the game could easily have been set on a single planet with different biomes. Because that’s what it felt like anyway tbh.
Also didn’t think much of the DLC. I certainly didn’t feel any connection with the Va’ruun or their homeland.

Game is fine for what I paid for it (cheap pre-release code from the MM), but I’d be quite disappointed if I had paid full price plus extra for the dlc. I feel no need to 100% it or replay it.

Elden Ring - 10/10

Holy moly. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. The first time in years that I’ve actually tried to 100% a game. Like I’m talking Skyrim-years ago.

Ok maybe the DLC didn’t quite live up to the level of the base game, but that’s solely down to the insane standards it set.

I will go back and replay it all at some stage, but I need to let that experience marinate for a while.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

I didn’t play the original version, and tbh wasn’t expecting much from this, but I had a ball. Updated graphics are gorgeous, and the story was fantastic. The little clues slowly revealing what actually happened were done well.

8/10 I’ll probably replay it at some stage.

Cyberpunk

Solid 8. The only thing I sometimes got annoyed with was overly cinematic, many plot twists and/or complex missions, or unskippable braindances. I mean I don't dislike the principle but it's a bit annoying to jump into game for a casual session and be stuck in a story thing and you can't just faff about in the open world.
Also learning all the characters was a bit annoying sometimes, not all are memorable and some die when not expecting it. Finally, the leveling and augments system has been overhauled a few times which gave me some annoyance, I first gave it a go at v1.05, then 1.4x I believe, then 1.6 and from halfway through ACT 2 I was on v2.x+
I'm still not very used to the RPG mechanics of Cyberpunk, but who cares I guess I played it on easy so could simply enjoy the story and world.

Otherwise, beautiful graphics, nice optimization for the Deck aswell, world, athmosphere, driving mechanics, etc... All important stuff is great.

Everspace 2 - 8/10

Best space combat game since Freelancer. Great atmosphere and music together with RPG elements made this a very immersive game. Just the right size star system to explore and 70+ hrs to complete.

Got this installed and on my to be played soon list. Probably after STALKER 2.

Was a solid 9/10 for me. Really enjoyed it. It compelled me to do all the content on offer. The sequel on the other hand that was one of the weaker points relative to this. The side content was good but not as compelling.

Not sure, but I think the last one was Horizon Forbidden West

Been busy ever since. But will make time for STALKER 2 hopefully if it is any good.

'Threshold' came out yesterday, short game, about £7.50 on Steam currently. I think the idea sounded better than the execution. Took me around 1 hr to complete after spending 1 hour prior to restarting running around and the game going in circles, not progressing. Very buggy 5/10.

Mind Over Magnet - 8/10.

Bought this as we have been watching Game Maker's Tool Kit on YouTube for ages, this is the first game from that guy.

Nicely made and a fun game, with some good nods to classics etc. But a bit short as I finished it in one sitting and got all the achievements.
