Grim Fandango Remastered

I have very fond memories of this game from back in the day and couldn't wait to get back into it when it turned up on Steam.

The game itself is still wonderful. The characters, humour, story, voice acting and soundtrack are as good as ever. I like that Double Fine added the mouse control to the game and it works fine.

Disappointed that they didn't do more to enhance the look of the game as it is here that it is showing its age (though I don't play this type of game for the graphics.)

The game does suffer from some rather obtuse puzzles which can be frustrating but then which point and clicks don't suffer from this. I also ran into a couple glitches where I ended up having to go back to a previous save which wasn't fun.

For the most part though the game is as I remember it and it was fun once again spending some time with Manny and Glotis. Highly recommended if you enjoy point and click adventures.

Watch_Dogs

I enjoyed the game, however did have to come back to it after dropping it a few months ago as I didn't grab me the first time around which was a shame. This was mainly due to how poor the game performs especially when driving your car 'fast' or they make you think it's going fast with engine sounds, but you can see it really isn't, driving in this game is horrific

Watchdogs needs serious time into tweaking graphics correctly (or just use NVidia GE) but it's worth it, you'll see some of the best graphics in any game out to date with zero pop-in.

I've found that 99.99999℅ of players complaining about awful driving controls were clueless of the ability to switch vehicle camera. I can tell you as an avid arcade racer that the car controls in this game are fantastic using the bumper cam view.

dying light main story and about half the side quests, first game ive finished in ages and first triple aaa game ive finished since tomb raider reboot a few years back, so must have done something right. 8/10 loses a few points due to uninteresting main villain and final mission was kinda meh! Will probably go back and replay the game when the hard mode is released is at some point.

I think that's what my review revolved around, it's Ubisoft again with a poor release meaning we as customers have to fix their mistakes & make the game what it should be. I spend enough time modding Skyrim which is a game made for tweaks and mods, and shouldn't have to do it with a game that's meant to be released in a good running state.

I tried all the camera angles and it didn't change anything, I don't feel the driving worked very well and would have hated it much more driving using a bumper camera, but if it worked for you then that's good to know.

Regarding the thread, I completed the Alan Wakes & Batman: Arkham Asylum, need to get round to reviewing them on Steam. :(

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 5.5/10

Repetitive button mashing third person shooter with no cover system.

Most interesting aspect gameplay wise I suppose is that the only way to recover health is by completing execution moves on your foes. This can be frustrating however as these moves can leave you open to attack from others (attacks always en masse!) and sometimes you gain very little, or even lose out. But maybe that's my own fault :p

Warhammer 40K character models are cool. The plot, while nothing too interesting was not a complete waste of time, with decent voice acting.

Yeah, it was alright. Another one from the collection completed :)

I guess if it did have a cover system it would just be GoW with different skins/textures.

I was going to liken it to Gears but, despite owning a 360 prior to my PC, I never actually played it.

Didn't play Gears Of War, didn't particularly like Halo; the console's two biggest franchise exclusives.

When you're taking a battering though you really do just want to duck behind some cover!

That's fair enough mate.

I think the key thing to note (for driving fans) is that you didn't drive with the bumper cam, so avid arcade racers will find driving with the bumper cam to be brilliant fun. I know you said you were aware of the view option but it's very much like Watchdogs completely changes the control mechanics when using the bumper cam.

As far as the graphics go, you have tools available to fix pop-ins and stuttering so there's no need to play the entire game in irritation. It's not worth paying full price when devs force us to make these changes so just get it on sale but when the built in graphics are unlocked (the mods don't add content, they unlock it) it displays literally the best graphics I've seen to date.

Resident Evil remaster 9.5/10

One of my all time favourite games. Even after all this time is was still as fun to play as it was when I first played it back in 2002. Not a lot of games stand the test of time like this game. My only criticism is that a few of the backgrounds could have been improved, but its a small issue and didn't detract from the game too much and overall they did a great job.

Tomb Raider 8/10

Enjoyed this a lot, although it did get a little bit tedious once I had fully upgraded everything. Being a big fan of the original games back on the PS1 this was a little disappointing (hardly any puzzle solving and the puzzles were way too easy) , but in its own right as an action game it was great.

Bit annoying that Microsoft get a timed exclusive for TR2..

Finding it hard to play much after these two games. Started Dishonoured but not that impressed so far.

Resident Evil Remaster - Jill story - 10/10

Loved it just as much as every playthrough I've had in the last 15 years.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - 8/10

So gorgeous. It made me weep.

Crysis 3 - 7/10 - Ending felt quite disappointing but the game visually is superb.

Wolfenstein - New Order 8.5/10 - Really enjoyed the story and game play was good, some of the robots became irritating and it was pretty short but overall really enjoyed.

Now to start Sniper Elite 3 :D

Tomb Raider (2013)

Actually enjoyed it although there could have been a bit more puzzle solving/tombs to investigate. It's a lot like Batman series etc, which isn't a bad thing but ideally I hope the "hints" you get don't flood the gaming market as it's nice to actually work out stuff, not just rely on second-sight ability.

8/10

Wolfenstein New Order 8/10

Pros
+ interesting story
+ interesting and varied enemies
+ Some great level design
+ decent graphics
+ great atmosphere
+ some impressive gore+
+ great weapon selection that evolves throughout the game
+ challenging

Cons
- having to press 'e' all the time to pick things up is irritating and outdated
- a little short, although longer than many other shooters I have played recently
- hub section is a little dull

Would definitely play it again and I hope there is a sequel!

Fallout New Vegas 8.5/10

Just finished my second play through of this, logged 157 hours total, really enjoyed it.

My only minor gripe with it is lacking the ability to quick switch between multiple weapons, I have a couple on the mouse but it would be nice to have various explosives and a choice of gun without having to bring up the pip boy every time.

Hard Reset - Extended Edition 6.5/10

No nonsense blasting fun. Two weapons with various different weapon modes to select between, no reloading. Use the two in combination to great effect and waste the limited variety of mechanical enemies. Rinse and repeat. Get RSI in left hand from tensely strafing those big buggers that run straight at you.

Have no clue what the story was all about but hardly seems relevant. Good fun, think I paid peanuts for it too so... bonus!

there may be a mod out there for this perhaps? seems to be a popular modding game!
