The last game you completed, and rating.

I think that would be Just Cause 2 back in December. I'd give it an 8/10, with mods. Just the perfect thing to sit back and relax and it's successor is more of the same, which I'm content with (others perhaps not so much).

Rocket League : I dont have much time for gaming so i probably wont master it and play ranked, but i am having so much fun even in those unranked random matches where everyone chases for the ball with no communication, and i am playing libero on purpose. 9/10

Pony Island : Hacker/Puzzle/Crazy game that i really liked, the way i liked Papers Please for example. I know its not the same games but its the same feeling, that type when you dont like RPGs even if you recognise how epic Whitcer 3 for example is , and you find joy in those little gems. 9/10

Dirt Rally : I MUST buy a Wheel Stand Pro. 10/10

Far Cry 4

Finally got around to playing this which I got free with one of my 970's last year.

Quite entertaining, shot the annoying feminist without hesitation, shot the bad guy without hesitation, jobs a good 'un.

That MG42 Signature weapon, lol..instant death, wish I'd unlocked that earlier in the game...who knew!!

7/10

Hmm this one I just missed buying the last day of the Steam sale and I have been hovering over buy since...

Not sure what's normal price but since there's no replay value in it I'd wait for it to be on sale. Don't expect anything challenging but it's good to kill some time when you want just something relaxing.

The Wolf Among Us - 4/5.

Great game. Setting and acting was great, full of surprises. If only it has more actual choice about what happens in the end, but thats how the Telltale Games are.

Still if you haven't bought it yet, grab this one!

Resident Evil 0 - 9/10

Does what a survival horror game should do. None of this piles of ammo everywhere and auto saves every 2 mins. You are actually hesitant to open a new door when you haven't saved for a while and are low on health/ammo and don't know what is on the other side.

Witcher 3 - excellent in every way, great story, characters, combat system, gameplay and the world it is set in is very well put together. 9.5/10

There was an interesting article written a few years ago at Penny Arcade about games like this (IIRC, it was written originally about Assassin's Creed 2). They were trying to figure out why so many reviews of the game were very different, with some reviewers loving it and some very "meh", and this seemed to be different again from players who had bought the game.

Turns out that if you rush through this type of game (as most reviewers do because they get very short windows to do the review before release day), then you do the main storyline missions and miss all the other side quests. This gives you a very different playing experience, missing important side stories/quests/upgrades, etc.

For games like Borderlands, Assassins Creed, Shadows Of Mordor, Mass Effect, Fallout, Far Cry, Elder Scrolls, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc, missing the side quests and racing through the main story is like eating the meat on the plate and missing the side dishes and other courses that go with it. You're just not getting the full experience of the game world and narrative as it was designed.

I agree.

Just been going through some old reviews on here for ideas on new games and my eye caught your post.

We've all seen the idiots that wait YEARS for a game to get release, spend all night rushing through it to come have bragging rights online the next day for completing it. Then proceed to complain as they either burn themselves out on it or don't engage in the whole experience. A game like Witcher 3 or Assassin's Creed .. it's rare that I complete the whole thing in less than 100 hours. I'll near enough spend weeks on just the side quests.

I mean, I spend good money on the game, why not enjoy everything it has to offer?

Minecraft Story Mode (up to episode 5 as it's not out yet).

Did it with my 5 year old daughter as she loves Minecraft, Thought it was OK but quite a weak story for Telltale, however it had my daughter completely spellbound so that's the main thing!

8/10

X-Com 2

8/10

Story was a bit weak (and the ending frankly went from "hmm" to "seriously? WTF"), still not sold on the necessity nor often harshness of the timers but it was enjoyable.

Of course it's a game that demands endless replays so, we'll see if that changes.
