The Last of Us (HBO, from Creator of Chernobyl) - No game spoilers please

So far it's been ok.
Logic fails, stupid plot armour. I can overlook knowing it's from a game.
It better have some major uniqueness to it soon. The apocalypse zombie trope is so chewed out.... I guess I'll stick with it till I don't.

Similar thoughts to these guys about episode 3, pretty much nailed it.

Watched the first 5 20 mins. Agree with it all. It was boring, pointless and filler. So far, the game is better in every way. Hope it improves.

These YT review pieces are ridiculous. That’s 54mins long which is probably almost the same as ep3 itself!? Lol..
It's all about making money. It's fine. Find your niche and just talk till you're hoarse.

I don't mind anything on YouTube, I can always just not watch it :p

It's clear though anyone expecting the game on screen is gonna be dissatisfied.
They might share a similar set of story beats but that's probably it.
I like the idea they explore little sub characters and stuff. Gives a new dimension to the game.

When we getting HL2 (1) the series then? :P

Really enjoying the show.

The fleshing out of backstory and outbreak leadup has been a highlight for me. It gives it a depth, not just a "just because it is" flat storyline we usually get with shows.

However, I'm not enjoying this thread having caught up on it. Spoilers galore and tag-ville aside:

I get that some people want a full on zombie show, others want a full and faithful game remake on screen, others just to be entertained or touched (emotionally ;) ).

For the guys not enjoying it, there's always the option to stop watching if it's not your bag. It's your choice to waste your time watching and then moaning on here though I suppose.

One sad moment is a member leaving the community, even though they brought it on themselves in a self immolation style goodbye.

Is it too much to avoid being nasty and project your intolerance on others?
Or allow others to have their view, no matter how wrong you think it is before coming down on them like a tonne of bricks?

Said it many times before in here, I've been reading these forums for 20 years because I appreciate the diversity of opinions, no matter how much I sometimes disagree with them. Will be sad to see this place turn into a yet another online echo chamber of prescribed viewpoints.

Having said that, with everything being so polarised now, I show sympathy and gratitude to the mod team that are doing their absolute best to keep this place as free and open as possible while also thinking of the stores reputation.

It's fine, most of these type of videos I'll watch at 1.5x speed. Given the state of most shows, the reviews are often more entertaining anyway. :)

I think this series is great so far and I did not see where episode 3 was going but damn it I found it a frankly brilliant episode and a proper tear jerker with no shame admitting it.

I wonder if episode 5 will be a story about 2 characters teased in episode 4, much like how in episode 2 we were teased about Bill, and we got a big story in episode 3.

I wouldn't be suprised. I think they're going to lean on secondary characters to help flesh out the central narrative like that. They can't possibly center it around Joel and Ellie for 8+ hours. My friend thinks that'll take something away from the ending (if they decide to go down the same route) but I don't think so.

Still watching this new ep now but one thing, how do they syphon fuel and use it, assuming that these cars have been abandoned for years, petrol has a shelf life of months in ideal conditions before it goes off.

So unrealistic :p

20 year old fuel that is still usable and not been syphoned off previously? Nah.

A herd of cows/bulls roaming free and haven't been turned into steak? Nah.

But enjoyed this episode and enjoying key parts from the game come alive.

Bellie wasn't too bad this week.
