The Last of Us Part II

Agreed, right up there with the very best games ever made.

Incredible game. If the second is half as good as the first, it will be outstanding.

One of the reasons i'm not worried about any tarnishing of the first is, it's Naughty Dog we're talking about here. Not Ubisoft, or some other dev that would very likely make a hash of it. Naughty Dog are some of the best story tellers and game devs out there, the game is in good hands.

For me, naughty dog are number 1.

The only other that has come remotely close is CD Projekt Red. :)

Edit. Naughty dog won't make a hash of part 2, I'm 99% sure :p :D

I only got about 1/3 of the way through on the ps3. Then I just didn't have the time to get back into it. So I really can't wait to start this again on the pro with a 4k tv.

Did anyone else leave the woman alive? I did love that cinematic moment and music running out the door.

Why 'ridiculously' over-rated? What elements did you feel were lacking?

I guess I don't know. There didn't appear anything (to me) that warranted the way it was received. But then again I hated Uncharted as it was one of the most linear games I've ever played (and just about eveyone loved that).

Mechanics of the game were decent, graphics good. Whilst the story line was completely unoriginal, they did wonders immersing the player in it.

I'm very (VERY) aware i'm likely wrong, It's my opinion I suppose.

On a side note, did anyone see The girl with all the gifts?

It's a movie, it appears British made, but I could be wrong there.

Very similar to the Last of Us, worse obviously, several story elements were very similar.

One plus with The Last of Us 2, is they may implement even better a.i.

They did add an improved version in the dlc that followed, but better still here.

What I am talking about is a.i. characters interacting with other a.i characters.

Ie. luring a group of enemies into an ambush by the infected, or even just distraction.

Using wildlife / food as bait.

Larger animals like Bears as distractions / ambush.

This has kind of been done in other games (badly) but I do wanted this in the first, and some other games since. a.i. brings lots if problems though, the reason developers prefer to make online games

I thought the first was ridiculously over rated. but somehow still feel it was brilliantly immersive.

I've just completed it tonight and completely agree.

The story was better than average, but nowhere near the level that the hype suggested.

The game mechanics and pacing were excellent, although the graphics on the PS4 version left a lot to be desired. This isn't surprising as it's a PS3 game, but again the hype promised much more than the game offered.

I'd place it marginally ahead of the new Tomb Raider series of games.

I'm jealous. I'd love to wipe my memory and replay it again not knowing !

Sometimes thinking about it, I thought the whole winter part was the most intense of the game. Especially the very end. That was downright creepy watching the animations of David running/crawling around.

That's harsh, they were decent games but the storytelling and characters in both were pretty poor.

I really enjoyed the new Tomb Raider games, so I'm not saying it's a bad game at all!

The problem for me is that I read reports that the characters and story telling in TLoU was on another level to other video games, and it simply wasn't. It was on par with the other top games in that regard, not a level above them.
