The Liverpool Club Thread. **No Spoilers**

The thing about the players out of contract is why haven't other teams already signed them?

Klopp will likely wait until January and use what he already has unless both Fabinho and Matip get injured again.

I've just got in and all I see is news that he's injured and it's a knee injury. Where's the talk that it's a season ending injury come from?

Everywhere's reporting it as a potentially serious injury and a few places have said it's his knee, including the Guardian and The Athletic. The Guardian have since removed the article though, not sure why.

Southgate's having a press conference at 6:30 so we'll know more then unless the club announce anything first.

Ok, lets wait and hear what the news is. Everyone's serious is different and there's a number of different types of knee injury that isn't another ACL.

We should dip into the transfer market in January imo, the way that Matip and Gomez pick up injuries isnt great and we need to strengthen the defence up. Phillips did well the other day but cant judge him on that one game. Triggering Upamenco's release clause at the end of the season would be my number 1 choice but in the meanwhile I'd be tempted to test Sevilla's resolve with a bid for Kounde

Seen Garay mentioned loads, seems to be the perfect player for us.

34, out of contract, slow, an injury history that makes Matip look like Robocop and has barely played this year after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. Is there a better player in world football to come in and immediately play for a team that plays a high line and pressing football? :p

Fingers crossed it's not hugely serious for Gomez and just like Ings recent injury it's a 4-5 week job, not 4-5 months. Either way we're not going to sign anybody out of contract. We'll make do until January and then sign Alaba.

Touch wood, we're going to have Fabinho and Thiago back after the Internationals and Keita's back already - we've got enough midfielders to find solutions at CB. I can see us playing 4-2-3-1 a lot more moving forwards with lots of rotations in the 2 midfield spots and at CB. I wouldn't bet against seeing a 3-4-3 at some point with Robertson as a left sided CB too. Thankfully we've won our opening 3 CL games which should give us the opportunity to rest players in midweek.

Two CBs in January is likely, one high profile and one squad player for cover. Any CB we approach is however is gonna have £15m added to their price tag just because we're desperate.

Got to feel bad for Gomez, not just because of the injury but because we'll likely go for an established CB that could end up replacing him alongside VVD.

Southgate was asked if it was his ACL but he refused to speculate. He did however finish by saying he hoped it wasn't the injury they all feared.

I'm expecting an ACL injury and him being out for the season. The most I'm hoping for is that he's done his other knee which athletes are far more prone to doing once they've already suffered an ACL injury. No idea where it leaves him if it's the same knee though.

Doesnt sound good, the report I read said that nobody was near to Gomez, he wasnt in a tackle or anything, was just running along and collapsed grasping his knee.

Few reports now saying we fear it's his patellar tendon, rather than his ACL, which is a worse injury with a longer recovery time.

Whatever the case, Gomez, the physios and club will probably know how bad it is and will just be waiting for his scan for confirmation.

Tarkowski refusing to sign a new contract...i think hes crap personally but there will be a link now.
