just a note Anksy, while the beginning of the game is ok, its all about the basics, once you get to level 15 and above, things get much better :) so stick at it mate

Just started my trial, jumping the gun a little i supose, as im only level 5 but ive had no movement in my pants yet.

im on Laurelin, gonna try and get into it, any advice in game would be great

dunno how to speak with you eefek, added you as a friend but it says something about being on the same.......something

although you are online

You're right, does sound a little gun-jumpy. I cant think of any MMO in the last 12 years which has got me excited in the first 5 levels. Try giving it a little longer, reach Bree preferably and do Chapter 11 of Book 1, that gives a better taster of whats to come.

Ultimately though, LOTRO wont be for everyone. Its got a much stronger emphasis on story and playing a role in the world than most MMOs, so it doesnt appeal to everyone, just depends on what you are looking for in an MMO really.

The one thing I like about it most is that being a fairly casual player (no guild either) I can be quite happy playing through quest lines taking my time, enjoying the story or go off and take time to find ingrediants and get some crafting on the go to make some money.

And the populations just about the right size and friendly enough to quickly find a group when I need to without the areas being over populated or horribly empty.

sorry to sound dumb but i have just finshed my last exam today at uni today and now have time to play online games. what i want to know is which LOTR game to go for, like do i stary on Shadows Of Angmar or go straight onto Mines Of Moria.

Mines of Moria is for lvl 45 to 60 and is the addon to the main game, so theres plenty of content and sotry driven questing to do before you get there...

its well worth the £10 for the compilation pack

yes book 7 (New area) came out a few months back and book 8 (new raid and lots of little things) is coming very shortly

Have there been any patch updates since Mines of Moria was released?

I've deleted my trial and installed the compilation pack today but it keeps asking to update it and its taking ages, it says i need version 2.2 but i cant find this anywhere?

yes theres been a few updates so patching will be required, although the retail dvd of MoM is fully patched to bk 12 so it takes a lot of hassle away

Is the £11.99 60 day gamecard from the jersey retailer the best value in terms of monthly fees? It seems far superior to paying them direct.. Does anyone know anything even better? :)

Better than what Im paying, think im at £24 for three months, can I ask is that time card emailed to you or is it by post only?

Probably the cheapest you'll find it, I'd imagine.

i was in the founders club and beta so got a lifetime sub for £86 nearly 2yrs ago .. saved myself a bunch 'o' cash in the log run :p

think you can still buy one but £99 iirc ... those offers are usually best to get on release if youve sampled the game first

After hitting 80 in WoW I'm now bored and have cancelled my sub. I installed LOTR today and gonna play it tomorrow. I haven't played it since it first came out and my 30 day sub ended. Has it changed much? My character was a guardian so I'll probably carry on with that one for the time being. Are there any add ons for LOTR like in WoW?
