The Lord of the Rings Online - Name / Class / Server thread .. etc etc

I bought the dual pack with the addon a couple of days ago, not created the account yet, is there a guild on here that would take a new player?

I have played it before, had a L25 champ I think.

I currently play WoW (went back about 9 months ago after 2.5 year break). I only play casually and as such I'm unguilded and so tend to do most levelling solo - and certainly don't have enough time to raid.

With LOTR is it's end game (I assume it's level capped) the same as WoW - spend xxx hours to raid etc, you must have xxx gear etc etc or can most things be done within a couple of hours play (my max play time) and therefore much more relaxed - none of the you must do 3.5k dps otherwise get lost etc.

Don't think there are any 3rd party damage meters for LotR, not ingame ones anyway.

Some hardcore players might run parsers outside of the game but they are not 100% accurate afaik.

Most can't tell/ won't care too much if your not doing X dps as long as you aren't stood doing nothing at all.

Yeah, it's not nearly as anal as WoW endgame, from what I've read of WoW, never played end game myself.

Knowing your class and how it interacts with others is paramount, never seen anyone question my gear or my DPS or anything like that.

My Captain's heading for 32 at this stage, still thoroughly enjoying it :)

@ John - is it in general or only in certain areas, like when you enter Bree?

Broods - Hunter 19 laurelin server

So far really enjoying it, it's just a pity that Aion is coming so soon otherwise I could've carried on playing for a few months.

-Name: Wescar
-Level: 13.
-Prof: Warden.
-Race: Hobbit.
-Server: Snowbourn.

Bought this last week as i needed a new MMO from SWG, and it's a fantastic game.

Took a break from this for Fallen Earth (and because by 60 day time card hasn't arrived :() but it's still my favourite PvE mmo.

I've played WoW briefly and LOTRO (in my opinion) is better than WoW, except in PvP. The graphics are the main characteristic that stands out for me when comparing the two.

How about the population? I played a trial around original release date and found that I only bumped into 1/2 people in several hours of play- I like the social side of mmo gaming and wouldn't enjoy empty servers as I might as well just be playing an offline RPG :)

i can only speak for Eldar server but i find the population just right. It might be bit "dead" at times, use it for crafting. :)

I've recently started new char and the "1st" starter area (lvl1 to ~lvl7) wasn't that busy, which is actualy good so you don't have to wait for respawns. :) Think you can skip it if you want to.
Noticed there are lots of new Kins recruiting, most people i grouped with were new players to the game.
Don't forget its 2 years old game so most of the population is in Moria doing the end game.

I don't find the population too bad, despite it being a mature mmo. I'm a bit of an altaholic, but never seem to have trouble finding a group to do the storyline quests with. The world is massive mind you, so it's quite easy to find yourself on your own, but places like Bree and Esteldin are always buzzing. Bree in particular is always fun, since Laurelin is an RP server and there's always something going on there.

Im level 38 (maybe 39) champion on Laurelin and the only place that Ive noticed where the population is a bit low is Evendim (and the starter zones but somes times there busy other times quiet) but I guess thats because there is no big dungeon or much/any of the main quest there, though I could be wrong.

Its also a good idea when you are level 20+ and the game begins to expand beyond bree/shire/ered luin, join the globalLFF just so you dont miss out on people doing fellowship quests that you ve still got to do while in another area.

Hmm think i may play a bit of this, this afternoon.

EDIT: my three month subscription direct via codemasters is running out this month, am I right in thinking 60day card for £11.99 is the cheapest I can get it, its showing out of stock at the moment (people who already use the 60day card will know the 'competitor' website :)), are they pretty quick in getting them back in stock?

Aion has been the final nail in this damn fine MMo's coffin.. the game is just orientated around instances and not around questing anymore :(

i was close to my fifth level sixty freep and not far off my second Rank 8 creep but sadly the moors (PvP)is just a case of who has the biggest zerg ..

have a lifetime sub so i can always pop in to see how the game changes, but i have no enthusiasm to login these days ...

I've actually had a 60 day timecard on order from that place since the 10th of September, still no sign of them getting them in :(

g2play sell them aswell, but they out of stock too, and I don't trust that site anyway.
