THE MAGNIFICENT 7: BIG DISCOUNTS ON GRAPHICS CARDS!!

I've just missed this lovely offer. Is there any chance to get another deal in the future? I try to keep my eye on it, but as i know my luck i'll miss it again. :\

I believe its been extended till monday. But not sure how many of which cards are left. So give it a try and see. I think the 1080ti strix is gone. But last i saw there were still others

I was tempted by this but only couple of weeks ago I spent equivalent of current price of a 1080ti on a Samsung tv & sound bar for my bedroom, Samsung are running a cash back offer so in a month or so after the £200 cash back my spend will be in line with the current price of a 1080. I digress, point was I was tempted by this but couldn’t justify it.

On here I’ve seen talks of the possibility of the new NVIDIA cards being released in a couple of months time, hopefully they’ll have a model with 1080ti or higher performance for like half its current price as I’m thinking about building a matx/itx pc for my bedroom to use on the tv in a couple of months time(what with the new ryzen chips due in April).

Lol dream. I suspect the 2080 will come out slightly faster than a 1080ti but will be £700+
I'm hoping prices aren't quite that crazy.

£600+ would be my guess. I'm hoping that £600 will bag me a 2080, so I've set that as my "go/no go" decision maker...

2080 for £600 or less? Buy, buy buy!
2080 > £600, 2070 > £480? Everybody can get stuffed. I'm done with these clowns. PS4 4 lyfe!

Tbf the 1080 occupied the Ti pricing spot (pretty much) on launch, so I'm expecting similar pricing.
Oh well, guess I'm not buying after all then. Too rich for my tastes.

If I can't buy the 3rd best gaming GPU for £600... then really I have no business in this hobby.

Well at least you will get the third best,I mean if a GTX2070 costs close to £500,a 60 series card will be like £300+ which will be like LOLWTFBBQ!!

:p

Tempting to switch to a console+OLED too tbh, not because of cost but because most of my m8s are on console now!

Yeah, seeing that more and more now. Another mate also ended up getting a Switch and has barely touched their gaming PC for weeks. Others now use their XBox and PS4 more, and only use their PCs for HOTS!! :o

The only thing is I hate analogue controls,so I will have just to cling to my gaming PC,however crap it will become over the next few years.

I am going to see how Metro:Exodus and Cyberpunk 2077 do,and what kind of improvements they bring relative to consoles and how much it will cost to run the games at decent settings at 1080p and qHD. If it becomes LOLWTFBBQ level, then I will probably just stay a few years behind the curve and play older games.

I suppose I can just keep playing Fallout and Skyrim then.

Was very tempted to get a 1080ti to replace my 1080 but its only 6 months old, still kicking myself for going with a 1080 at £480 instead of getting a Ti for £650 before all the price increases.

Its not that bad still:

According to TPU the GTX1080TI FE is 30% faster than the GTX1080FE,although AFAIK the GTX1080TI probably overclocks better. In the end that works out as not a huge difference in price/performance.

Probably the smartest move overall imo, games will have all the bugs patched out and as long as you stick to quality gameplay stuff then I doubt you'll miss the v v latest effects!! Not like a great film gets any less great because it's 20 years old right?

Nah, the 1080 is less complex so has a higher chance of a decent overclock. But tbh their wasn't much in it, good silicon is good silicon.

Ah,OK fare enough,I was probably thinking of the GTX980TI then!

I dunno, its kind of sad,as for 15 years I could get away with spending less than £200 and could still run newish games at mostly highish settings fine. OTH,I have other hobbies like photography and hifi,so could just probably focus on them as they seem better value than computing TBH.

Also Bladerunner and Terminator 2 still look awesome now!! :p

I would have liked an oled but there were a couple of things which meant I didn’t get one:

1)the price, the cheapest oled tv on its would have cost like double what I paid for tv + sound bar.

2)the smallest size oled is 55inch, would have been a little to big for my room. I was debating between 40inch and 49inch, settled on 49.

Watching a few YouTube videos and reading reviews the consensus for best tv to use with the PS4 pro/Xbox one x seems to be the Sony xe905 or Samsung q7f for non-oled, however both cost double the price of the one I got 49mu6400 due to having a 10bit screen and true hdr along with a few other extra features.

A relative has the UE49KS7000 which has the 10 bit panel and the QLED backlight and with decent bitrate content the IQ,is pretty amazing, and even the built in speakers were not too bad either.

Edit!!

Even DF,said it was great for gaming:

Just tried to place an order for the GTX 1060 6GB but encountered an error during payment so order was automatically cancelled and now I can't use the code again. Dang it!
