Best 3 teams in the premier league at the moment - All playing "false 9's" - with no striker/centre forward. (liverpool/chelsea/city)

United - still insist, almost have to with Ronaldo, play the same way they have been.

Needs serious changes top to bottom - As must as I was delighted to see Ronaldo return, it's just not working at all.

Rashford is miles off form, looks utterly disinterested, Sancho is coming onto a game more and more, Ronaldo just cuts a dejected/fed up figure. It's horrible to watch at the moment - it's literally like treading water for months and months. Bruno looks woefully short of confidence at the moment - how he missed those chances on Saturday are a mystery to me.

Theres nothing wrong with a CF, they just have to do more than put the ball in the net. I think that truly top class CFs are a rare breed so its perhaps easier to have a front 3 that all chip in, can rotate and feed off each other than having a focal point. It also gives you a bit of redundancy if your front 3 scores most of your goals vs your single CF. If Kane or Son get injured Spurs suffer. When Ronaldo isn't scoring, United suffer.

No one looks like scoring at the moment - very little from "midfield", looks just awful at the moment. Ronaldo is "undroppable" but not in the amazing sense, he's just not going to sit on the bench without having a meltdown.

Only "bright" spark recently has been Elanga playing well and looking sharp. Sancho appears to be improving each game. But aside from that - it's a tough tough watch at the moment.

I don't know honestly. The last game was massively frustrating but I would rather draw games and play well, creating loads of chances than what we had over the past 3 years. Playing crap, getting outplayed by every man and his dog but winning games because we had enough players in form to score a few chances.

I don't think we will get top 4 this season but if that means that Ronaldo goes, we get a good new manager in and build from a better place I would be more than happy. We need a complete about turn with the way we recruit and run the club and until that happens, any success will be very short term and fleeting. Hopefully Ronaldo will be the last idiot play by the owners.

Nothing to disagree with there.

Curious - you have two picks for manager....

Any manager (ignoring contracts/unlikely to come etc) - who is it? Dream option....
Realistically - who is it going to be?

We arguably played this way with the trio of Greenwood/Martial and Rashford in the 19/20 season and it was fantastic. Over 60 goals between them. We were scoring goals for fun. Sancho would have been the last piece to slip in and finish it off. The past 18 months it has just gone down hill. Ronaldo coming in has just made it ten times worse. He has also effected Bruno's game as he is not taking set pieces anymore despite being arguably a lot better at both free kicks and penalties. As you said his confidence is shot.

I was actually hopefully after the success of both Zlatan and Cavani but the qualities of those players Ronaldo doesn't have.

ETH or Potter but both of them are massively risky with the current squad dynamics. Both of them have shown that they are tactically very astute and know how to make a team greater than the sum of its parts. The issue they would have at United is buy in. Would these overpaid and under worked "stars" be willing to put their egos aside and do what they are told or would they just throw the manager under the bus if asked to put in the work.

Spurs, Atletico, Leicester, Everton, Norwich, Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton & Chelsea & Palace.

Remaining fixtures, don't really fancy any of them bar Norwich. This isn't going to be pretty.

Yeah, thats a grim fixture list. These players have the fight of a fainting goat as well so I doubt we will get much from many of these games.

I think for me now it has to be Ten Hag, bring in any staff he wants, be prepared to lose a fortune clearing out the overrated players, and go from there - let Rangnick sort out the upper level of the club.

I like Poch but I think it will just continue this malaise we have now if the structure above him doesn't change too.

My fear is that the club doesn't care about trophies as much as it cares about social media and sponsorship so it doesn't care about shaking things up too much. A decent manager should be able to do something with this team and a couple of additions. We won't win the CL or the PL but we should be able to get top 4 most years and win the odd crappy cup. Thats enough.

Despite years winning **** all, United are still the biggest news when it comes to football. There is little incentive for the Glazers to put football above the other areas of the business. Time will tell but I have little faith right now.

How did the false 9 go yesterday?

Man Utd fans should be watching Garner put on a master class for us (Forest) in the cup tonight. He's gonna be some player if he keeps developing like he has over the last year or so.

100% Ten Hag for me as well - go get him - don't mince around over a few million here and there for a manger when you've spent £80 million on McGuire and £40 million on VDB

I think Ten Hag is more likely to go to Man city than you lot, city have a similar infrastructure in place to Ajax rather than the complete mess currently at man u.

Besides, you need more than a manager, you need a complete overhaul of both backroom staff and facilities. Old Trafford is a rat infested **** hole that needs serious work and Carrington is outdated.

100% but the question is how much longer is Pep going to be at City. Getting the manager you want is as much about timing as anything else. ETH will probably be on the move this summer unless City have promised him the City job in a years time, which I doubt.

There are rumblings in the club that we are trying to change some things but I will believe it when I see it. Woodward gone, Rangnick going upstairs. New manager in the summer. Ronaldo, Pogba and a slew of other players leaving in the summer.

Old Trafford is a rat infested **** hole that needs serious work and Carrington is outdated.

Not sure if you are being literal or metaphorical in this first part as it could be either. The Glazers simply don't want to spend money they don't have to and the fans for the most part would say thank you if the Glazers slapped them with their balls as they traipsed into Old Trafford.

Until the fans actually stop watching games and make enough of a show of it, nothing will change in many areas. Its a business. The Glazers put the amount of money they have to into the club to keep the commercial revenues ticking over. They make bank, the club slow grows in value and they can sell in the future if they want for a crazy sum.
