The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

This is why refs get so much abuse, because when they **** up instead of owning up they try and ban or fine the victims. They're ******** disgusting. Refs should be admitting the ball was in play and they made a mistake.

While petulant and shouldn't be happening how come Pep and half the Man City team harassing Taylor on his way to the VAR screen has been completely ignored, does seem to be one rule for one and another for everyone else.

They could also start reviewing the refs performance as well because at the moment they can do no wrong and are getting away with some terrible decisions, looking forward to the VAR roulette tonight, see how creatively they can ruin the games.

Is there any indication Ronaldo was happy to accept that? There is no way we should be paying him to leave, that's what he wants. You can't just release a player under contract, you have to pay them the full length of their remaining contract.
Sometimes it's better to do that the club and the team.

Theres also a post from Ronaldo on his Instagram which starts out what seemingly looks like an apology but changes direction. Not on the gram so can't link it but it was posted on the r/reddevils reddit sub last night

As l've always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn't changed. I haven't changed. I'm the same person and the same professional that l've been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always plaved a very important role in my decision making process.

I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. Therefore, later on, l've always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I've represented.

Unfortunately that's not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment get's the best of us.

Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we'll be together again.

Oh **** off Ronaldo. I could almost understand it if he did that when we were losing. Almost. To do it as such a performative protest after such a great game was just peak ********.

Get rid.

Disagree, bowing into player power is not better for the club and team. Paying him money to go away just shows we think he's bigger than the club. if he wants to leave he can ask to terminate his contract.
He doesn't have long left on contract does he? A year I think?

If so considering the mess it's been with him since he stated wanted to go then for sake of a year bin him off.

No one will buy him from you due to wages, Ronaldo going back to UTD was a miss step in first place.

I didn't suggest anyone buy him, I suggested him agreeing to terminate his contract with no payoff. if he's not willing to do that then he can rot in the reserves for 6 months.

It'll cost them 16 odd million plus to terminate his contract though

Yep. If he wants to sit in the reserves and collect his salary then so be it. If he cares about his football he will terminate and go elsewhere. The fact that he wouldn't reduce his wage demands over the summer by all accounts, thus stalling any move tells you what truly matters to him. Ego.

He must be in turmoil knowing that people are slowly but surely turning on him and realising what a ***** he is. That the longer he chooses money over football the more he tarnishes peoples memory of him.

Agreed. ETH has been more than fair with him and he's acted very poorly.

The harsh reality is that he looks finished at a Premier League level, his sharpness has just disappeared.

That post is just nonsensical bluster. Lots of words that say absolutely nothing.

While the Ronaldo situation is a circus, in one aspect it's helping ETH stamp his authority on things.

Why would Ronaldo agree to no pay-off? Utd have a history of paying players to leave and he's sitting on a contract worth 10s of millions per year, that nobody will pay him. It's easy to put the emphasis on him and say he can rot in the reserves but nobody at Utd wants to pay him £m's every month while he's not playing and lets be fair, Ronaldo decides if and when he trains and plays with the first team, he's not going to train and play with the reserves.

As I said on Wednesday night, as long as Utd are winning then Ronaldo sulking isn't an issue for ETH but if and when results don't go Utd's way the Ronaldo issue will be put forward by sections of the media as the primary reason for that result.

Utd should have just paid a chunk of his salary to leave in the summer but I've no doubt they'll reach a compromise with him to go in January now.

That's irrelevant, we've seen they do that whether he's sulking or not. The media will always talk about Ronaldo. They were asking why he didn't come on vs City as if he somehow would have changed that result.

And the obvious reason Ronaldo would do that is if he cares about football over money. He's tarnishing his legacy which he claims to care about, he absolutely wants to be playing in these latter years, not sitting on the bench.

But nobody cares if you win. Like Wednesday, the general view is well done ETH for standing up to Ronaldo but if Utd don't win on Saturday then you'll have Roy Keane in the Sky studio questioning why he's not in the side.

We always look for reasons when a team doesn't win and the Ronaldo saga is a ready made stick to beat ETH with by lazy pundits, journalists and even fans.

You're wrong, we literally had Evra saying Ronaldo should be playing against Spurs after one of our best performances for years. What we do on the pitch is irrelevant, the media will talk about Ronaldo. So unless you're suggesting ETH should start him every game to just appease the media then it's meaningless. ETH has to do what is best for the club and what is best for the club is not starting Ronaldo. If he wants to ruin his reputation instead of becoming the elder statesmen that comes in when needed like so many others then that is on him..
