It's a blow but not major like a Rashford or Casemiro etc - I was thinking he needed a rest as he's been ok but nothing sparkling for the last few games.

I like Fred more and more - he's improved so much under ETH and looks to be really enjoying his football.

Indeed. We're going to lose the fluidity that we have.

But, we knew this would bite us at some point, injuries are inevitable. We need to invest well in the summer and beyond.

Top 4 and a final or two should be considered a triumph, miracle if we get a cup.
I don't think it can be considered a miracle if we get a cup considering we are practically in the carabao cup final already. That and top 4 is nothing more than an okay season. Throw in the FA cup and then it has been one to remember.

Disagreed they all compliment each other, sure he might not have sparkled but him at 10% is better than McSauce at 300%

After finishing 6th last year and losing both opening games, the Ronaldo debacle, new manager in first season, first season in EPL as well, the injuries, Sancho, the club sale, the fan protests. I think top 4 is a great achievement if can get there. We're also a bit lucky that Pool.have dropped off and City are not at their best.

Sure, but if we finish 5th behind spurs and Newcastle are you really walking away thinking that we haven't been a disappointment?

I'll take 4th and build on it for next season but that was the minimum we should've gotten, regardless of how other teams performed.

I don't think anyone would think top 4 was minimum at the start of the season, considering how the squad and club was at the end of last season. We had a new manager who has a plan. I genuinely thought, as long as were playing as a team after 3 or 4 months, in the way ETH wanted, that would be a successful season, regardless if we finished mid table, or won a cup, considering the squad and how they played last year. The whole Ronaldo crap was dealt brilliantly, glad hes gone. What ETH has done in 6 months, SIX MONTHS, is remarkable, no one would have thought he would have got us where we are after the first 2 games.

If we do end up 5th behind those teams you mentioned I wouldn't be an issue, because it would be down to the club being ****** up. Not ETH or the team he has, no money = no new players to cover. We will only fall off a cliff if we get more injuries. If we go into the final quarter of games with 4-5 key player out, ETH or the team are not to blame. The fans should be over the bloody moon as we all know we have a thin squad.

yes, because i've watched the team develop and improve. something it's not managed to do since pretty much Ferguson left. 5th this season would normally be considered a bit meh in itself but with the fact that there's been obvious improvement and development within the team means i'm not overly concerned what our finishing position is this season.

Top 4 and Carabao cup, plus an excellent manager, with a thin, but constantly improving squad.....more than most fans (including me) would have hoped for at the beginning of the season.

Puts us in a position to really strengthen the squad over the summer now we're a more appealing club. Top 4 is really about making sure we can offer CL football.

Problem with all these things is that once you have a taste of them or they are within reach its almost impossible not to be disappointed if you fall short. I'm sure fans Liverpool would have torn your arm off at the start of last season if you told them the quadruple would have still been on deep in the season and basically everything was possible. Ask them after the final day of the season and they would be heartbroken.

With the job he has done I won't blame him if we don't get top 4 but I will be very disappointed.

By then (end of season) half the first 11 have been/will have been missing for a lot of the season.

Eriksen, Martial, 'Wood, Sancho, VdB (to some extent).

What's your beef @omnomnom

Eriken out at a crucial time
Sancho has barely played
Martial was on fire earlier in season
VdB would probably excel in the new system
Wood - no comment

I imagine the amusment is trying to include VDB as a first 11 player, and greenwood is hardly a shock.

I would say we've been incredibly fortunate with injuries and i don't think you can argue too much otherwise. Not like some teams have been cripled in other seasons.

I would say it's pretty good news for us, lets him focus on his club career. He's achieved everything in a France shirt so doesn't really have anything more to prove. Interesting that he mentioned the psychological impact being a factor, maybe the dressing room in that France squad isn't much fun to be in.

I hope thats it and that he isn't feeling like his body is giving up. He has won everything but he would probably still be playing as first choice come next WC and France will have another strong claim for the trophy at that point I imagine.

Greenwood has had all charges against him dropped according to some media outlets :o
There's a statement from the CPS confirming that there is no longer a realistic chance of a conviction due to a loss of a key witness amongst other things.

And yes, now that the charges have been dropped you can now discuss the matter.
