The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

You said it hadn't been handled properly, asking how you would have handled it is irrelevant?
the handling of martial since pretty much day one has been indicitive of how poorly the footballing side of things are at the club. that doesn't requre us fans to provide a solution to that single example. or do you not see that?

How has it been poorly handled since day 1?

Or is asking questions "missing the point"

if you need that answered for you then you're clearly not seeing the point being made. i've neither the will nor inclination to go into the detail needed to explain what is actually being debated if you don't see that.

yes, asking irrelevant questions is missing the point.

Could have used a number of players as an example.

Jones. Maguire. Lindloff. vdB. AwB.

You could also say Greenwood and Anothony still on the books with what they get up to is a huge reflection too.

Ahaha, what a troll. Make a 'point' then just dismiss every question against it. Absolute masters in debating
no, there's no trolling here. no one was blaming martial for the clubs predicament but you steamed in with that assertion anyway, it's been explained by more than me that you're missing the point, but you're holding tight to your belief that that was the case. that's on you, not on anyone else. the conversation has slipped past you and that's fine, but no need to start crying troll just because you were wrong in your initial uptake

also, take a look at the post immediately above yours, it might help you realise the point that was being made. martials name just happened to be the one that was used as an example of the poor footballing decisions being made at the club. or maybe you don't believe that to be the case.

Dude, if you can't backup an argument then you don't have one. Making stupid claims and then accusing anyone asking questions of missing the point is juvenile stuff. You're trolling, you don't want discussion, you're just looking for reactions.

No, you’re still not getting it. You’re discussing something completely different, a single player in isolation. That’s what you want to discuss. No one else does, any one else mentioning martial is only using his name as an example of the wider issue of poor control over footballing matters at the club.

The best thing that can happen now is for us to be out of the CL and playing one game a week. It will allow more coaching time, more recovery time and the opportunity to blood some new talent. The season is over. We won't be relegated so the club needs to be brave and ten Hag needs to be brave. The challenge is whether or not the culture of the team can be changed or at least the reasons for the poor culture being identified. Those players who can't get on the bus need to be let go which will be expensive but there is no other way. I don't know who those are but ten Hag will or he isn't the right guy.

Key things to address
- Appoint a credible Director of Football
- Identify how to replace Varane and Casemiro. Their careers are ending but can serve to develop younger players if used correctly. Amrabat is not the answer - he's clearly not at the level required to warrant a permanent deal.
- Call time on the careers of a number of previously untouchables
- Stop overpaying for any player - it just heaps pressure on the player and the manager at a time where we have shown we aren't able to handle such signings.
- Pick a team that can follow instructions rather than ones with "star" quality
- Overhaul the youth team coaching set up to make players ready for the way the first team needs to play to complete at the elite level
- Clearout dead wood - van der Beek, McTominay, Maguire, Lindelof, Sancho, Martial.
- Communicate honestly with the fans about what we are trying to achieve
- Set a short term objective for ten Hag to develop a coherent play style over and above short term results

Fanciful I know but we are close to rock bottom and sacking the manager only repeats the cycle and lets too many failed players off the hook.

You claimed that we had mismanaged him in a footballing capacity since day 1, now you're claiming nobody else wants to discuss Martial

yes exactly, because he was just one example of how the footballing side of things had been poorly handled. so there's no point on focusing on one single player. maritals name was used purely as an example. if you want to have a yarn with someone specifically about martial specifically, have at it but i doubt anyone else is interested in rabbiting on about a single player when utd's problems are much bigger than one player.

So your 'point' was board bad but you don't want to talk about it any further than that? Well brilliant, what a credit you are.

what a credit i am to what?!
you're just in a huff because you steamed in to a discussion having clearly missed the point and despite that being pointed out to you on numerous occassions now you're still trying to bang that drum. i'll talk further about the board being bad all day long, no idea why you think i wouldn't. you're the one that seemingly wants to only focus on martial for some unknown reason.
