US: The Mandalorian

Apart from the spaceship battle which was awsome we got a complete borefest.

The Mandalorian had been pretty light on story telling, Having one or two main story archs throughout its seasons decided to give a whole longer than normal episode to two characters that had a around 3mins total screen time in the past?

Did Pedro have to nip away for some reshoots on the Last of Us or something?

If they are trying to weave this into the last 3 films which were a complete dumpster fire then this show is a dead man walking.

Never really cared much for them in the past but that one was excellent. The rest of the episode was...okay I suppose. As someone else said it was just too much setup. Plot threads like that need more going on around them throughout the episode imo.

It felt a lot more like Andor and there were many parallels. There are clearly threads setting up the sequels and in line with the books e.g.

Recycling of both the Empire and Alliance fleets
How little many in the core worlds look outwards or care about what’s going on

I’m conflicted about the route the whole story goes down, but it does make more sense when you read the books. It’s just sad to see what became of the victory over the empire.

I thought it was a good insight into the idea that the New Republic may share a little more in common with the Empire than they like to think and I'm sure it'll have a future payoff.

And how they’re fuelled by greed that ultimately ends in most of its destruction. The core worlds were corrupt and inward looking long before Palpatine came along, clearly things never change.

Difference is I already like Cassian Andor from his feature length film, I couldn't give less of a toss about these two, at least not yet. Even then Andor's first two episodes were a bit of a slog.

I’m not sure if I was just tired when I watched it, but I didn’t quite get…..

How come when they left the star destroyer, she basically got away scott free, and then seemed to get free rein to be left alone? Shouldn’t she have been subject to same interrogation / etc?

In retrospect, not sure if I nodded off and missed a key minute of the story?

She's been assigned as essentially a security officer. Her job is to identify anyone who still has sympathies to the Empire so as far as the New Republic is concerned she'd just done her job. Not saying that will be the ultimate outcome but that's how it "looks" for now.

Essentially she was undercover. It's her job to entrap people to stop them converting back to their old ways. The narrative being that the New Republic is becoming no better than the Empire.

Cheers both, think I need to watch the end of it again tonight as clearly missed that inference!

I am calling it now...
She sold out Pershing to gain favour and be more trusted so she can find where Gideon is and break him out!

Talking about breaking out.. I am pretty sure that one of the guards that arrest Pershing was the same guard that was on the Rebel Prison Ship in the episode with Bill Burr... Actually i hope he makes a appearance in a later episode.

My theory is that the Tie Interceptors/Bombers that attacked Mando and Bo-Katan were from the 7th Fleet commanded by Thrawn.

Weird thought - Is Bo Katana keeping the water monster that Mando didn't see a secret in the hope that this cult she doesn't really like go to bathe in the waters and all get eaten? Is she that bad?

Spoiler Guys wasn't sure how to use the button writing this.

That ex imperial communication officer was a strange one. At first I thought her motive was to get Pershing working again, the results then getting back into the Empire hands again via her.

There's definitely something going on now with her setting him up. Looks like she wants to completely rid of his knowledge regarding his work for Moff. She's definitely still working for the Remnants of the Empire, which is most likely why she's wormed her way in spying on other ex imperial staff.

You could tell straight away from walking in on the senate talk from Pershing she was up to no good.

Be interesting to see where it goes regarding whose out there empire wise with the attack on Bo and Mando.

Interesting how people enjoy different things. I could not have been less interested in a zero-stakes, ‘nothing-bad-will-happen’ star fight.

I was much more interested in Dr’s story, which had an unusually sinister ending for Star Wars.

Will she get any special authority if she rides it?
Probably symbolic, prophecy etc.

Mandalore the great was badass and waged wars against the Jedi order.

So my take on it if she tames it that cult mando is in will bow the knee.

Think of Avatar.

They don't seem that phased by the Dark light saber.

It's hard to tell these days which is canon since Disney.

Most of starwars lore is non canon now so who knows.

I must also be in the minority as I really enjoyed the latest episode, the battle at he beginning was obviously cool but really liked seeing more of Coruscant, especially all the Star Destroyers parked up for recycling.
I’d love to know more about Coruscant and its history. A planet that’s been completely built on with a hundreds more levels underground too.
