^ Beautiful, I love the way the soapstone pattern continues on the stand. Enjoy it!

I think you might be right, the only 2 creams i've used that are ok (Proraso Blue, Palmolive) dont have that in them, i just googled the ingredients :)

Yeah, most of the other creams like Palmolive and Ingram use Sodium Silicate instead(?) I'd still rate the current Creightons base* as one of the best though :D
*Aqua, Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Acid, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Sodium Hydroxide.

Try this...

http://www.theremustbeabetterway.co...ock-north-woods-shave-cream-classic-pine.html

Free from triethanolamine, and pretty much anything else unnatural. It's "suitable for vegans!!!1111" so it must be good right? :p

There's a free sample if you want to try it out! :D

I have had my worst head shave ever today.

I usually shave my head completely smooth without so much as a dot of blood appearing.

Today I made about 3 large cuts, and many smaller cuts. I changed the blade towards the end just in case and the rest of the shave seemed to go okay. I wonder if I had a dodgy blade :s

Currently sitting with lots of tissue on my head.

Been back and forth popping my head into this thread and always resisted.
I bought a shedload of razors when Ads had a slight misprice going on and I came to the end of them yesterday. Needed a shave today so went shopping... I forgot how expensive they were lol.

Ended up buying a pack of cheapy Bic's and OMG, neck covered in random cuts :/

DE89BL on amazon comes in at £20.27 this the right one to be looking at?

Gonna have a mooch about a few of the links above too and grab some other bits and pieces methinks. Is that 30% off discount still going?

Also wheres best to grab a sampler pack of blades?
And is the blubeard brush ok for the money?

The DE89L is supposed to be a good starter razor. Yes, the 30% offer is still going, and there is some decent options on there but I would go with either the Truefitt and Hill or St James of London Shaving Creams.

With the brush, it depends which one it is. Personally I would have a look at the ones on http://newforestbrushes.blogspot.co.uk/ as you can get a very very good brush there for a very decent price (the silvertip 2213 is £37, which is pretty much the best type of brush you can get).

For blades, http://connaughtshaving.com/samplepack.html seemed to have the best sample packs, although I believe some of the guys on here have had some off Ebay.

Whats the difference between the DE89L and the DE89BL ?

Also a recommended starter brush ~£10 doable?

Current spending this evening:
Truefitt & Hill Finest Shave Cream £4.99 1 £4.99
St James of London 50ml Pre Shave Oil Mandarin & Patchouli £5.61 1 £5.61
Truefitt & Hill Post Shave Cologne Balm £4.99

with the 30% off code ofc :)

Blargh that £8 razor sample packs ends up like £14 after postage :(

Liking the look of the Merkur 38c barberpole, Im thinking the babrerbpole grip may be sensible. Also found a 20% off code for shaving shack, FDAY20, as well as 20% cashback
Also liking the Muhle r89 Grande, same price as the merkur, what says OcUK?

The vulfix 404 brush is outta stock tho :(

Shaving Shack have the Vulfix 404 on Amazon (sent from amazon).

Not sure about those two razors, i havent used either i started with a 34c HD which has the same head as the 38c but with a short handle, a good forgiving shaver.

If i was buying my first DE razor again though, i'd buy a 3 piece version of the Merkur so i could use the head on a heavy short handle (Weber Bulldog) at a later date.

Well manly men, I'm going to ask for some manly man shaving advice.

There's no doubt a lot of the bases have been covered already, but this thread is 41 pages long. =\ So I have to just ask.

I wont be online till morning to check responses either, as I'm off to work.

Anyways, I'm a guy that shaves his face, neck and head. But I've always had really sensitive skin, prone to razor burn. If I use Nivea for men shaving gel, it definitely lessens.

I use a Gillette fusion blade for all surfaces. But I'm finding it very difficult to do a job without causing irritation. Mainly on the back of my neck on the right and the areas of my throat near my adams apple. Also getting those stray hairs around the top of the ear is a PITA.

Now, I cant go changing to one of these single blade jobbies, as shaving blind with one of those would be a no no, I'm sure lol.

But do you guys have any balms\gels or general methods that could allow me to shave my whole face, head and neck area. And leave the skin looking healthy, rather than butchered =\
