If I was picking one for around £20 I'd get this.

This is like a HD but lighter, the HD is fairly well liked by most, this is the same head on a light body.

Have a look around other sites, but I listed these because the promo code bandb gets you 10% off your first order.

Cheers pal. Will probably go for the Merkur you listed, thanks for the promo code! Also, what are the teeth shape on the safety razor?

I don't really know why they put the dents on the bar. They are on all my closed bar razors, but you can get razors without them. I don't know if there is a reason for them, or not.

Remember a grab some blades while you are at it. A 10pack will last awhile but I'd suggest getting a few types. Once you have a brand of blade you like shaving.ie has about the best bulk buys on blades. http://www.shaving.ie/categories/Razor-Blades/Bulk-Pack-DE-Blades/ Can buy over a years worth there for about £20.

I have a braun cruzer 4, it good for leaving a bit of stubble when using the trimmer but i cant sem to get it to shave me very well. it is supposed to work wet and dry but im not so sure, got it with £50 of amazon vouchers for xmas.

Very tempted to get a DE or a razer pit to keep the fusion blades for longer

Quick edit

I have a strange patch on my jaw lin on the right hand side where hair just doesnt grow any more...it did before then stopped. almost overnight, anyone else had a problem like this? if i had the choice id shave close and then let a 3 day stubble grow before next shave as i like the look but this 20p size patch is really bugging me!

Just a heads up for anyone interested, I nabbed myself a Gillette Fusion ProGlide power razor from Superdrug today for £6.50 and they normally go for £15 I think. Unlike its predecessor this version doesn't tear the hair from your face !

Used these for the first time the other day, quite an improvement over the old Fusion blades.

I picked up a rechargeable Phillishave (HQ6970) for 20 notes from Sainsbury's yesterday. Same model shaver in Boots is £47!!!!

what are the best blades for going with my merkur? (and where to buy them online??)
seems to be plenty of variety, just finished off a pack that were left over from my hand drafting box!

Having being initially unimpressed with my Merkur, I've been working on my technique and things got a lot better. I just had to slow down and take my time more, try different angles of attack, etc.

Then today I ditched the free Merkur blade that came with the razor and bought some Feather blades. OH. MY. GOD. Just had the best shave of my life! Talk about sharp - not only do I have no stubble, I barely have any skin left on my jaw bone :D Amazing.....I can't stop stroking my baby-smooth face :o

The merkur blades suck, strange but true.

Could do with some new shaving cream now that the one I got with the starter pack is almost out. Anyone with any good recommendations for one that smells nice?
