Cheers, I'll stick with Taylors, might go with Sandelwood this time..

Strange about the blades though, Derby were sharp, but tugged really bad.

I got the Taylors shave shop one in my kit, lathers really well & smells ok althought not very strong of anything, suits me though.

Used my 34c HD with the blade that came with it, seemed really easy although I did nick a few bits under my jaw but I think they were left by the M3 I used the day before. best shave I have had since I had bum-fluff.

I also got a brush in the kit from Traditional shaving (great company so far btw, fast delivery & even some sweets in the box lol), It's one of the cheap Edwin Jagger ones but will more than do me.

Loving it so far, it's odd that I can't wait to try it again.

Expensive? Its the cheapest way to wet shave once you have made the initial outlay. The razor and brush will last for many years with the cost of blades being pennies each.

The razors might be a little more expensive than some of the offerings from Gillette and Wilkinson Sword etc. but the replacement blades are a fraction of the price. So potentially people could make a saving after a while.

However I bet that most people who shave like this are like me and spend more than we would have by buying other creams, soaps etc.

Either way I enjoy shaving like this, what more reason do I need?

Edit: I agree with the poster above, it aint that expensive.

I got this for xmas

Edwin Jagger DE razor
Edwin Jagger badger brush
100 Derby blades
Taylors sandalwood shaving cream

However not a bowl or a stand, I'm currently using an xmas pud bowl and it works really well for no outlay but I'd like to get a nice bowl and stand for both the razor and brush, are there any that are considered the best value for what you get?

Anyone tried the Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream, im finding it so much better than the soap iv been using, lather in seconds, nice smooth shave and leaves face feeling more moisturised than the soap. Think i will be sticking to it.

Also finially got used to the Merkur Futur great close shave, and i thought the 34c was good.

just had to have a shave with standard hotel soap... ergh.. :'( worst shave ever, and the fact the blade was blunt when i packed my suitcase. totally forgot to change it before i left :/

I bought a Merkur 34c which I havent tried yet, but the proraso shaving cream I bought is pretty damn good.

Feels like moisturising cream as much as shaving foam.

Havent tried my Merkur yet. How often do you have to change the blades on these shavers?

I have just started using Gillette 7 O' Clock blades. So far, so good. I have been using Feather blades but I think I actually prefer these. They're much cheaper than Feather blades and last me just as log (4 shaves per blade). I can't get over how good a shave these blades provide. Highly recommend these :)

I bought them from The Shaving Shack http://www.shaving-shack.com/10-gillette-7-o-clock-double-edged-razor-blades.html

I'd be interested in this too, I "need" a stand and bowl also.

Soo after a few weeks of DE shaving I am having a few issues! I'm fine shaving the rest of my face but even shaving with the grain I get a lot of pull on my chin and it is quite painful (I still manage to shave though and then go against the grain after)

Also randomly when shaving on my neck I will shave straight down and against the grain and discover I have nicked myself in about 6 different places.. is this just from applying too much pressure as I try not too apply any!

Tried my Merkur 34c for the first time today.

First impressions are not good. Obviously I dont know what im doing.

But it tugs the bristle, it cuts myface, even when Im using it ever so lightly and it doesnt seem to shave anywhere near as close as my gillette fusion...
