Any advice for me chaps? Can't use electric and find that despite my best efforts with various Gillette cartridge/disposables I cannot wet shave daily without cutting my neck to shreds. Have tried various gels/oils, one-pass, against/with the grain and no joy, neck still looks like I have tried to shave using a kitchen grater. Couple of days growth and I can get an excellent shave though?

Anyway, thinking that a decent DE razor setup might be the way to go - do you think its worth a shot and if so can you recommend a decent setup for me please?

I ordered this - best shave of my life 0 nicks and if i do i got the styptic pencil to stop it... but so far so good.... very happy with it all :D

Razor blade sample pack (35x) - Quantity: 1

Luxury Shaving Cream - Quantity: 1

St James After Shave Herbal Cream - Quantity: 1

Merkur 34C HD Chrome - Quantity: 1

Styptic Pencil - Quantity: 1

Black badger - Ivory - Quantity: 1

Truefitt and hill ultimate comfort - Quantity: 1

Well got me a nice little package today.

Semogue 1520
Razorock xxx
Astra superior as a freebie.

The brush should be great, looks pretty decent given the price.

Iv'e just got myself a safety razor and some Derby blades, my mum bought me a brush and some soap and OMG it is amazing!

I have had it a few weeks now and It takes just seconds to have a quick shave in the morning daily. Not cut myself once *Yet* touch wood...

Cant believe I was spending a fortune on Gillette and getting really bad rash and razor burn.

It's just so epic! No Idea how people manage to cut themselves with it either :/ lol

Well just had my shave with the bits i mentioned above.

Wow! One pass bbs, with no nicks and a tiny weeper and little to no irritation.

I didn't think this was possible with my silly thick bristles.

Razorock xxx lathered up like a dream, i find it better than the fabled mitchells wool fat.

Trouble now is i still have a ton of gear to use up, ah well.

Having spent months of being fed up with poor shaves from off the shelf stuff, I have today ordered:

Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Feather Hi-Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades
Omega Shaving Cream (150g)
Edwin Jagger Best Badger Brush Medium with Drip Stand (Ebony)
FREE 10 Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades

Going to try the Israeli blades out first before the feathers I think, whilst I get used to it!

Arrives Friday so have the weekend to recover from any nics if I get any on the first run.

I tried some feather blades out on my last shave, I'd only used Israeli blades previously & I can most definitely confirm that feathers = sharp.

Just brought my real man shaving kit, looking forward to Saturday when it arrives :)

Merkur 23c
Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream
10 Feather Double Edged Razor Blades

How long does this soap last.

I've been using it for 9months and still have most of it left!!!

Epic lastability!

So my stuff arrived as per #1626 and used it today with the Isralei blade.

No cuts - I found getting the angle difficult to get used to - left my jaw line not as closely shaved as I would have hoped. I guess its a case of getting used to it and learning the proper technique.

It feels OK, but not as good as I was hoping. Think I will try the feathers once I have got to grips with the angle I need to have it at.

My order still hasn't arrived from Shaving Shack however popped them an email today asking what the hold up was, he advised they had sent it on the 7th however missing my Flat number from the delivery address, so I can only presume some rustic neighbour has decided they also needed a new razor.

However due to it being their mistake they have sent the order again special delivery things time :)

Good service i'd say!

200 gillette greens turned up the other day, i like the greens and yellows. will get some yellows at some point.

ordered a few others bits to try:-

TOBS Cream Jermyn Street sample
TOBS Cream Eton College sample
Proraso soap
Proraso pre/post cream
10 Feathers

I get severe razor burn on my neck and can never get a smooth shave all over without really hurting myself. I've tried safety razors and your average Gillette razors along with various creams and foams. Am I destined to never have a good shave or am I doing it wrong? :(

Wrong. Technique and prep are everything. Ever paid for a traditional shave? Might be worth it, as if you get problems after that then you might be right (plus it's great fun). I'd guess that you would get a great shave, and no irritation!
