Tried TOBS Cream Jermyn Street this morning, i like it, it's much easier to lather than TOBS soap with very hard water.

think i'll pick up a pot, it doesnt smell bad either.

proraso pre/post cream is good as well

I'm running low on shaving cream, and after trying some taylor of old bond street sandalwood soap, proraso cream, and some col. conk lime glycerine soap I've decided to try some Bluebeards revenge this time around and ordered:

The Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Cream with Doubloon Brush Gift Set

I've read some great reviews of the Bluebeards revenge shaving cream, so I hope it can match up to some of the previous products I've used.

I don't know if it is cheaper than online but I got some Taylor of old bond street cream for ten quid at .tk maxx today. Two tubes of sandlewood .

I paid 6 at shaving shack for a tub.

Two shaves so far with my new merkur 23c, so much smoother than anything before! No nic's so far! Not used the feathers yet though.

I see that there its a lot of weighted safety razor purchases I'm this thread. What seems to be the better quality makes?

I've always used a straight razor for years now with just plain hot water. As I only shave 3 times a week die to ruining with stubble in between, it never seemed too much hassle to hone and strop before each shave.

Now that I'm looking to daily shave I'm thinking of getting a weighted safety razor now my question is.
Do I need to use soaps and cream with them? If so what's a good product...
What razors would people recommend to live worth on a daily basis?

Anyone finding Derby blades blunt recently?

Used to be my razor of choice but my latest ones seem to grab the hair more than cut.

Switched to feathers for now, much better but tend to be a little harsh on my skin.

if you end up liking those Israeli blades (Personna) and dont buy them in bulk, you can get packs of 10 in asda cheaper than online.

i've not tried them yet, but will do at some point.

I've got two left of my ten made in U.S.A Personna blades, and I've yet to have a decent shave. Think I have some of the Israeli ones (Super or Platinum Personna?) that were also sent in the pack of different blades I got originally so hopefully they are better, but I'm not impressed so far.

Still having 1 or 2 issues with ingrowing hairs, there seem to be less of them than before but the ones I do have are MUCH deeper and actually hurt to remove.

Before shaving I wash my face, then massage Proraso pre/post cream into my face and wait 5-10 mins before shaving, I then spend a good 3/4 minutes lathering up my face with a badger brush to ensure all the hairs are up then I shave... usually do about 3 passes (but will cut the same places every time due to taking the heads off of spots made my ingrowing hairs)

After each pass I wipe my face down with a flannel and then after I am finished I wash my face again with a mild face wash to ensure all bits have been removed and then apply Proraso balm again, Face is fine at the time but then ingrowing hairs grow back in the exact same places.

Any advice?

For ingrown hairs a salicylic acid toner is helpful. The acid is fat soluble so can get into the pore and clean it out helping hair come out like it is meant too.

This is probably a very noob question but why do the Derby blades have numbers 1-4 on their sides? They only have 2 usable sides, no?

Hmmm, Ill take a look at this... Thanks

Any recommendations on brand?

Not really since I make my own. Salicylic acid mixed in vodka or isopropanol with some witch hazel or orange water.

You have to read the labels a lot of them don't have it in the name but it is in there.

Edit: Max of 2% Salicylic acid for toners, just thought I'd add that in case you decide to make it.

I've just bought all my D.E shaving gear and started using it this week. First time I but myself to shreds, but my second time this morning managed a lovely close shave with no blood!
