The Marvels

Yet more "Big oof" for the box office figures - This Fridays takings ($635k) had dropped 74% compared to last Fridays ($2.4m) for the same amount of cinema screens showing it, making just $207 per screen on a Friday night which, at $10 per ticket (avg price), is just 21 people seeing this film per screen.

At that rate, the box office which is currently about $190m is unlikely to break $210m globally by the end of week 4 (by next Thursday) to reach Chuk-Chuks event limit and may even struggle to break $200m - Hoooooly Crap!

Disney/Marvel is heading towards being classified as "Art House Cinema".

:D

As recent evidence of the "when you aim it at 'fans' you make money" concept, for which Marvel/Disney seem to had forgotten being so heavily propped up by ESG money -
  • At the low end there is FNAF (£20m budget) which has made $300m so far and is aimed mostly at male fans and then there's the Taylor Swift Era Tour ($15m budget) which has made $250m so far and is aimed mostly at female fans.

  • At the top end there is Oppenheimer ($100m budget) which made $950m and was aimed mostly at male "audiences" (rather than 'fans' per se) and then there's Barbie ($150m budget) which had made $1.44b and was aimed mostly at female fans.
So the money is out there when you actually make something that "fans" of your product want to go and see, irrespective of gender, and none of those 4 films cost anywhere near as much as The Marvels ($280m budget) did and yet all of them have out-performed it. If no-one is "dragged over the coals" at Disney/Marvel for this films disastrous performance then I would take that as proof that Disney/Marvel will probably have some kind of board take-over and/or law-suit from the share-holders who are losing money like crazy if they bought their shares after 2014.

So no matter what Iger might be saying about "we recognise that our values and our fans values are different" etc, if The Marvels doesn't fundamentally and visibly change something within 2024 then I can see there being some form of shareholder action being taken.

How exactly is FNAF aimed at male fans? I'd argue it's not aimed at fans at all because it was dreadful. And how was Oppenheimer aimed at men

FNAF's fan base is approximately 75% male with an average age of 17.

Men generally enjoy historical "documentary" style movies more than women who generally prefer "romantic" films.

Any more strawmen for me by picking apart those links above? It's OK, I understand why you 'need' to do it.

I didn't say anything about fanbase representation. I asked how the films were 'aimed' at men. Doesn't shock me you're avoiding the question though.

With Disney halting the release of the box office numbers that also means The Marvels has ended its box office run, again after only three weeks of being released which is unheard of for most movies not to mention the MCU.

Too late for damage limitation Bob, the damage has already been done.

The M-SHE-U completely in the mud.

Can’t find anything appealing about this trio to entice you to watch the flick, then you are brain dead or emotionally bankrupt!

My immediate question is - what are the things they are supposed to be looking at cos the three of them have very different expressions. Meaning they must be looking at different things.

Going left to right “Ew, that’s gross” “I feel sorry” “I don’t understand what is going on” - if they are looking at two girls and a cup then I can understand.
