I must check out the hu and Astronoid, what are they all about?

The Hu is a Mongolian folk metal band that uses traditional mongolian instruments and a lot of throat singing. Astronoid is difficult to explain as they are a huge mixture of so many styles but for me it works out wonderful. Been waiting to see them since their first album in 2016.

The Hu are pretty cool judging from that track, heavy! Astronoid remind me a tad of Lightning Bolt for some reason (a drummer and bassist combo). The vocals don't do it for me personally but not bad by any means.

For some reason I think that Astronoids vocals fits with the music, I doubt they would sound as good with a different style of vocals even if they musically are superb. Going to check Lightning Bolt out tomorrow

Two tracks I can't get enough of right now. Slugdge are one of my favourite recent discoveries and the second half of that primus vid is just musical genius.

Loving me some older 90's stoner/sludge sounds recently -

Followed by two strange "recommendations" in my YT feed, considering I've not consciously listened to these bands before -

This came as a "Vocal coach watches Devin Townsend" video so I just found the original

and I've no idea where this came from - I don't like the studio song, hate the film it came from, really don't like the band etc but I quite liked this live version despite the tone deaf male backing singer. Oh and they sucked again for the rest of the set :D

Excellent stuff, absolutely love Stone the Crow. I hadn't enjoyed much Crowbar I'd heard before but that's a really good song, reminiscent of Type O Negative, will have to revisit them.

A killer doom/sludge album is the first by The Abominable Iron Sloth:

Speaking of stoner I was late getting into Fu Manchu but at their best they're excellent. Their cover of Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla was a revelation.

And then there's Telekinetic Yeti, pretty cool hearing a 7 string used in this manner:

Please check out twelve stone toddler, i think you could really enjoy that.

They're really good! Similar to TFN but a lighter version drawing from the same influences. I'll go looking for the album for sure!

I'm not the biggest fan of Devin Townsend's solo/Project stuff (SYL are right up my street) but songs like Deadhead (especially that staggering live version) and Vampira are impossible to not enjoy.

Have you heard kingdom by devin townsend?

Deadhead, ****** beautiful tune. Check this out!

Devin Townsend is one of my favorite artists since I discovered him a few years ago. The Royal Albert Hall show was my first show with him and wow did it blow me away. Some of the songs I had never heard and was gobsmacked by his diversity and vocal range. And he is an awesome guy too, really chilled and open about everything. Seen him 7 times since the RAH show. I saw him last month at one of the acoustic nights he did in London and it was really amazing. A set with lots of acoustic songs and a Q&A section as well. Also got tickets to 3 of his shows in November/December

I have actually courtesy of Aztec2Step, that's a very good song too.

He has to be one of the best singers I've heard in metal and beyond. Which album would be a good starting place for an SYL fan? Having shared the songs unlike with an old friend he is now a big fan but just looking at the size of his back catalogue is daunting!
