The MSI Neo2 Platinum Owners Help Thread

Is there any program that can read the temps properly on this board? Speedfan gives a different temperature between 42 and 68 C everytime I restart, and Motherboard Monitor does not support the board.

Try using the 754 Neo MBM5, i assume that its got the same temp sensors.....ive tried it and it looks about right.

Nimrod... do you know how I can enable the gfx card to use the AGPx4x8 BUS??

Ive tried reinstalling the GART driver and that seems to work, its just that when I click back on the gfx tab the 6800 GT still shows as using Bus: PCI x0 rather than the AGPx8 it should use :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I can see the problem with socket 939.
It's not like it has room for a censor like the socket A.

Not too sure chief, never looked tbh whether mine is using it or not, i've just got it enabled in the bios.

thanx a million Mullins!!

You were right... i had to unistall the GART driver , then unistall the ForceWare 61.77 then reboot and reinstall the GART first followed by the gfx drivers...

... then hey presto the AGPx8 is operational and on a stock 6800GT/3500 system I got

3dMark01 = 22,500
3dMark03 = 11,850

:) Makes me smile :)

Thanx for all your help guys...

What sort of overclocks have you guys got with the stock AMD cooler and using that Windows based OC utility??

:) glad you got it working, i had assumed you were installing the gfx card drivers after the gart.

I'm a bit concerned now. My temps had been at 54 and 22 with the core centre. Thought nothing of it when I knew this board was throwing out screwey temp reading. I just downloaded MBM5 and set it to the MSI Neo Platinum option and it's still giving me 51-53 and 23 case when idle:eek:

I'm using the CPU fan that came with my 3500+ and I have two fans in the back of the case.

Surely this can't be right?

Also my HDD LED hasn't worked since I installed the Neo 2 last Friday. Tried various things with no luck. The rest work OK. The LED was working fine when I took out my P4 board last week:confused:

Try turning the hdd connector round on the motherboard

I had to do this for both my power and hdd led's

your temps dont look that bad considering your using the stock hsf are you using the thermal pad that came with it or AS3/5?

Pad that came with it.

My bench scores with the setup in my sig are so far.

3dMark01 23977

3dMark03 13122

Cant overclock to much though due to my PC3200 ram. I have had the CPU running at 2530MHz when I set the ram divider to 166 and it ran fine, though due to running outta sync it didn't bench to well. Still least I know once I get some descent ram the CPU should be able to run at 2500MHz no probs :D I will get past 24000!!!

Does sound a bit high. I've been using Everfrost Home Edition which tells me I'm running core @ circa 40C idle, raising to about 54C a sec or so after the app finishes under load. (Mobo is 23C).

I'm running my 3500 at stock at the moment, I did have it running at 2366 for a while without too much of a temperature increase or problems. I'm using the retail heatsink / fan / thermal pad etc.

I have two case fans and use one to pull air in from the front and one as an exhaust at the back; so you could try moving one of yours. I've only just put the two case fans in and they lowered the temperature by about 8C. I think the 6800GT is responsible for quite a bit of heat and having a proper 'through air channel' helps a lot.

Tried that programme which tells me much the same thing:(

Added a Zalman fan to the back of the case a couple of days ago along with the Coolermaster one that's been there for a while. Also added in my second HDD after leaving it out to begin with. Those are the only changes I've made. Don't understand it:confused:
