The MSI Neo2 Platinum Owners Help Thread

Yeah deffo check the performance settings on your drivers....

Right click the desktop and click NVidia Analogue (or something like that) and i think its the 1st tab down....

Slide everything (the top 3 i think) to the left but then re-check the "application controlled" tabs.

The cpu tests in 3D mark 03 do actually drop really low as far as fps go, due to it testing the cpu and not the gfx card, so dont worry about that :D

Who was it who had the delay for loading windows? I had this when I didn't install those SW ide drivers that you get asked about half way through installation of the drivers. It says they aren't needed but speed stuff up a hell of a lot (Specially boot times).

turned off trilinear optimistaions and that helped. Im now scoring 16,147 on 3dMark01... but thats still not proper!!

Can you guys please tell me what you have set in your bios for the following... All under the CoreCell tab:

DRAM Config: 1T, 2.5,3,6,3

High Performance Mode: Manual

Aggresive Timings: Disabled

Dynamic Overclocking: Disabled

Spread Spectrum: Disabled

HT Frequency: 5X

Cool 'n' Quiet: Disabled

Adjust CPU ratio: Startup

CPU FSB frequency: 200

Adjust AGP Frequency: 66

CPU V: 1.55v

Mem V: 2.7v

AGP Voltage: 1.6v

The above are the settings I have it set to in the CoreCell part of the bios

Thanx a million guiys!! :)

It was me. I don't remember seeing that. I'll have a look.

Ok downloaded the latest drivers from the MSI site (I'd just used the ones on the CD to begin with).

Installed SW ide drivers but Windows still takes around 20-30 seconds to start loading.

This may be a very stupid question, but you did install the nforce drivers right? Check in the nvidia drivers if it says you are running AGP 8X or PCI-mode

He means chipset drivers and not gfx card drivers!;)

I have been using the onboard Gigabit Ethernet port since I had the board without any problems. I use it as I have two PC's going through a router here at home to connect to the internet. I havn't had any problems with it yet though am struggling to get access to the other PC on the network :( This is due to PCcillin 2004 firewall though not the LAN. Just gotta get my head round the new software thats all.

PC isn't on all the time, maybe 7hrs a day but not had any probs so far. I have disabled the other two LAN devices through the device manager as I only use the Ethernet one.

Hmm uilt my com yesterday AMD 3800+ and this mobo etc, and yesterday idle temps were 48C, and now 60C...
Is this something to do with the mobo or have I done something wrong? (Zalman 7000ALCU)

Edit: Never mind restart cured it (now at 46C idle)

After scouring many forums a couple of recurring probs seem to be present with this board.

1) Bios hangs on boot up. (Platinum Logo)
Fairly common, has been suggested it's a power issue. I'm sceptical.

2) On board ethernet stops working (nvLan)
Just stops working. Fixes range from reinstall drivers to a full bios re-flash.

1) Quick boot probably isn't enabled, it takes ages to do a memory count but you can't see it doing so because the nasty platinum splash screen is enabled, hence you think it's hung. Answer is to enable quick boot and remove the splash screen.

2) NVLan's been fine, no problem at all.

Hope that helps.

Should it be of any help my set-up is as below, won't fit in my sig, and works a treat.

K8N Neo2
Athlon 64 3500+ 210x11*
2x512Mb (slots 1&2) Crucial Ballistix P4000 (CAS2 2-2-5-2 1T) 2.75v 210Mhz(200Mhz)*
40Gb Western Digital
LG DVD/CD
TEAC W540EX CD RW
Crucial 9800pro 400/350 core/mem (CAT 4.9b) 67Mhz*
Audigy 2
Creative Inspire 6700 7.1
OCZ 520ADJ "Powerstream" 520W PSU (+3.3v 28A, +5v 40A, +12v 33A)
"*" = set in BIOS

Gives about 21,700 in 3dmark 2001se

How do I check that I installed the nVidia chipset drivers properly? I just ran the program and said yes to everything other than the IDE SW thing? I said no to that becuase I was using SATA HD's. Should I have said yes to that?

Also, what 3dMark01/03 scores are you guys getting with your 3500 and 6800GT's all at stock??

PS.... Ive just checked and it says on the nVidia tab of the gfx card that the...

Bus: PCI x0

So how do I change this to the AGP x4x8 ?
