It will tell you whats going on with your cpu/ram, slots one & two are the correct place for dual channel pc3200

2.2 is the correct stock speed for the 3500...

Carlito what's on your screen during the 30 seconds it takes to get to the windows xp loader screen? or if theres nothing whats the last message...

Cheers for that. Haven't really had the chance to play with my new kit as I was plagued by viruses in the short time it took to update windows/download AVG/macafee firewall. Still stuck with an Agobot worm which AVG seems to miss when scanned but throws up warnings about it. Still stuck with a message about not finding bridge.dll (which was another virus I manually deleted) at startup too:rolleyes: It would put you off reinstalling Windows for life.

Anyway. During the 30 seconds between the last BIOS screen and Windows starting to load I either get a blank screen or the faint outline of the Windows XP Pro logo barely visible before it eventually starts to load. Did two installs but this happened after both. With the virus problem I'm thinking of starting from scratch again:(

Hello, I read the whole thread 5 pages.

I was planning to get MSI neo2 939 with FX53.............Now I am lost, many people stating its full of error others saying its a solid board.

Should I get it or Should I buy the Asus 939. ? thanks

It's a difficult one, I got the MSI Neo2, A64 3500 and 2 sticks of Crucial Ballistix PC-4000 512Mb and after reading the many comments about the board thought i was going to regret it, but in the small amount of time (1 week) i've had it running, i haven't as yet haven't had a problem with it. :)

Well I think I've sorted out my virus woes (touch wood) so I'll have a chance to actually have a play with my new Neo and A64 3500+ without any further trojan-type interuptions:rolleyes: :D

After scouring many forums a couple of recurring probs seem to be present with this board.

1) Bios hangs on boot up. (Platinum Logo)
Fairly common, has been suggested it's a power issue. I'm sceptical.

2) On board ethernet stops working (nvLan)
Just stops working. Fixes range from reinstall drivers to a full bios re-flash.

No.2 is the most disturbing problem I've seen and seems relatively common. Have any OcUk members experienced this issue?

I don't get any hanging issues at all.....

I did with my 754 Neo Platinum but this board is superb in my opinion.

Can't speak for No2 as ive not tried the Lans yet.

If your running a A64 system with all the gubbins ie decent gfx card, optics and hdd's then 300 watt is not sufficent. ie a fart in the wind. :p

As I suspected. Could it cause the delay?

What wattage PSU do you recommend? The 300W did fine with my P4 but I thought I may have to upgrade it:rolleyes:

Well i got up this morning ready to play some online gaming and nothing happened, the fans spun for about 1-2 seconds and stopped,i thought it was my psu but it`s ok works fine in my kids pc,ive tryed clearing the bios and stripping all the bits out and reinstaling them and still no go looks like a RMA job:( pity coz this setup is so fast, who do i contact @OcUK to RMA my motherboard and cpu?

Heres my setup.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (Socket 939) Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500 (Socket 939)
Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 160GB SATA 8MB Cache
NEC ND2510A Dual Layer
LiteON LTR-52327S
Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200C2PT
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Enermax 431 psu.

I have these Bios settings....

DRAM Config: 1T, 2.5,3,6,3

High Performance Mode: Manual

Aggresive Timings: Disabled

Dynamic Overclocking: Disabled

Spread Spectrum: Disabled

HT Frequency: 5X

Cool 'n' Quiet: Disabled

Adjust CPU ratio: Startup

CPU FSB frequency: 200

Adjust AGP Frequency: 66

CPU V: 1.55v

Mem V: 2.7v

AGP Voltage: 1.6v

The above are the settings I have it set to in the CoreCell part of the bios. Problem is that Im only getting 15.800 marks in a 3dMark01 and that seems very low.

I have a Neo2, A64 3500, Corsair XMS3200C2PT and 6800GT. All at stock.

What do you guys have set for the above??

Bear in mind Im not overclocking this rig.

You probably know this but have you got all your settings in the Nvidia Drivers to performance????

In the Bios - turn fastwrites off and stick your AGP rate to 4x8x with 256mb of mem

Seems too low for my liking that score....what drivers are you using????

Try the 62.20's or the 61.77's

Like i said i might be teaching you to suck eggs but its the only thing i can think of...

Try your gfx card in a mates rig to check that it's o.k.

Good luck matey

cheers nimrod, ill give it a go now.

Fastwrites is off. I only had it set to 128mb so I'll change that.

Im running the 61.77 Drivers and I'll check the performance settings now.

Im getting 8400 in 3dMark03 and 15,800 in 3dMark01.

That makes it look as tough the RAM / CPU arent performing as they should. Strange also that whilst testing in 3dMark03, when it gets to the CPU tests it often drops the FPS down to 3-4fps. That again seems VERY low to me.
