The MSI Neo2 Platinum Owners Help Thread

I got the flashing cursor immediately after POST when I pressed DEL to get into the BIOS (my board doesn't even boot without my fix).

No USB stuff here (I have got stuff, but I didn't have them connected when diagnosing).

I used a DDR Booster and upped the voltage through my RAM to 3.1, any less and it was unstable, and below 2.8 wouldn't even boot.

Thats interesting. I have corsair ram to, maybe i should try this... As for the usb thing, i shall be bk at uni tomorrow so i will try this.

Also in the bois i have two options for cpu voltage. I cant remember what the exact wording is but one gives you voltage options and the other says 10%, 15% eact. Anyone care to explain the difference?

But the only thing i have connected through usb is a epson printer. Can that be giving me the problem? If so, i cant really disconnect my printer just so that i can get into the bios when restarting.

I had this problem, i posted on the MSI forums, that was the suggestion, and it worked for me. Of course, YMMV.

I could do with some help myself.

I've got a one of these boards, with a 3500 venice, and 2 x 512Mb corsair xl pro 2225 memory, Gainward 6800 Ultra, and a Audidgy 2 ZS.

I've had no luck at all with getting a stable overclock, even a small one.

I'm upping the DDR voltage to 2.7, setting the AGP to 67 to turn the lock on, turning off cool n quiet, all things i've picked up from this sort of thread.

I'm OC'ing by setting the memory to 205mhz, is this the right way to do it ?

Should i set the HTT to 4 ? Its at 5 by default IIRC.

I've seen people with similar setups to me with decent overclocks, where am i going wrong ? Or do i just have a board that can't hack an overclock ?

I'm not that experienced in overclocking but, I've managed to get my old 3500+ Newcastle running stable at 269x11 on stock volts.

Way to rub salt in the wounds :P

On this board ? What settings did you use in the bios ?

All I did was use Corecentre on auto and watched till it crashed, then I restarted then raised the FSB to 5 below the point of the system crashing and ran sandra to see if it was stable. when it crashed I just tried again with a slightly lower FSB.

HAS ANYBODY HAD A PROBLEM WHEN YOU PRESS ENTER ON HT TO TURN IT DOWN FROM 5X, THE BOX OPENS, ITS EMPTY AND THE COMPUTER FREEZES, ANY HELP CAUSE IT WONT LET ME OVERCLOCK AND IM GETTING WELL CHEESED

Caps lock stuck? ;)

Yes, it's a known problem. Do not press enter! Just use the + and - key on the keypad.

Set the HTT to 4 and try again, im sure that should fix your problem.

HTT multiplied by the HTT multiplier must not go above 1000. You can get away with minor increases over 1000 but mine stopped at 206 (1030) like yours. To go further you drop the multiplier (as suggested). There's no noticeable performance loss when you do this.

This allowed me to go further, but the big ocs require increasing the CAS (to 2.5 or 3). This isn't as big a hit on A64s as it is on other processors, so check your results before discarding this option. The increase in processor clock speed will quite easily outweigh the drop in ram performance. Also, Corsair said there was a problem with running some of their modules at CAS2 at high speed but I can't find the link to it anymore (maybe they fixed it).

My new build will now refuse to POST and the D Bracket gives out a Processor Error.

I have had this problem before and clearing the CMOS fixed the problem. Now that doesn't seem to want to work.

I know there is nothing wrong with the processor, I've been using the computer fine for days and it was shut down properly. Now it will not startup.

Any ideas?

I'm taking the CMOS battery out for a while to see if it fixes it.

had a problem the other day where my pc would not start i found when i plugged in my illuminated keyboard it would not boot....so maybe it could be 1 piece of equipment so only connect the very basic bits you need to see if that helps.

I've looked at that and don't think there is a problem.

I don't change anything to my PC, it just sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't :S
