I so want this! how big a job, and what costs have you been quoted?

No quotes doing it myself. Got 2 1000ft boxes of Cat6 from work not even used one box so plenty spare, just need to buy the switch and faceplates.

Got to sink back boxes into the wall, then drill down behind the skirting board, fit trunking then pull wires through under the floor boards, route them to a central spot and connect to a switch and router. Then some plastering around boxes and trunking.
Hardest bit for me was decided where to route the cable to avoid power cables in the end i just ran them along side and its made no difference. Then it was routing the cables from upstairs to down i had to go through a 1ft thick concrete lintel but the SDS made easy work of that.
Its just time consuming but easy.

Good luck! I hope it goes well for you Ace.

Been running network and sat cable through the house myself whilst doing the rewire. Front room and master bedroom is done.

Well about 40mins ago my solictor still has not received the funds, nationwide confirmed they went yesterday.

So all being well will be there very soon today. :)

Good luck Ace!

We have been in just over a year now, crazy time to be moving but so satisfying being in ready for Christmas!

Last year when we got the keys, first thing we did after unpacking was go out and get a Christmas Tree & Dining room table and chairs on the same day!

It sounds like your problems were similar to ours, however our problems was with mortgage advisers and nationwide,if it wasn't for our estate agent keeping our buyers happy I think we would have never moved into the house.

We also did the exchange and move on the same day...was a bit surreal moving out our old house and the new owner was dumping boxes in whilst we were taking things out!

Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you!

That sounds crazy! Least my property I'm buying was empty from last week :)

GL ace

Nationwide are good but a little jobsworthy I found, but then financial services are like
that

What I think can slow down the actual solicitors is waiting for someone to trawl the bank accounts and allocate the funds as appropriate. I made numerous transfers and my solicitor would never acknowledge funds the same day even though they were there and she was excellent in every other respect.
As a business its far easier to work on bank accounts a day in arrears as the transactions are then fixed so to speak. If they keep looking they may find new transactions appear, even worse if its a business that relys on same day transfers in and out. Someone has to keep and eye on and update all the transactions.
If nationwide say they have sent I am sure they have.

I rate nationwide quite highly personally

Hi Lee,

Contracts have now been exchanged and we have requested accounts to send the monies to the Seller’s solicitors.

We will call you once the Seller’s solicitors have received the monies and the keys have been released.

Kind Regards,

Just waiting on the phone call to say the keys are released now!

Any new's yet Ace?

Mines going to be a little close to the wire next month for moving out before the date we have to be out of the house.

Going to have the solicter checks to do which seem to eb the sticking point for everyone - fingers crossed mine are ok - it's vacent and freehold so finegrs crossed

Just waiting on the phone call to say the keys are released now!

I remember the feeling. I was told it would be 1pm then 2pm then 3pm then 4pm... meanwhile the movers found the back door key, moved everything in, built my bed, let Virgin in to install the box, etc.

Ended up getting the keys around 5pm because there solicitor and mine were woeful :)

Good luck it doesn't go on as long as mine did!

M.

Well I just called the sellers estate agent and they just checked with their solictors for approval to release the keys, and they have confirmation the funds have been paid by my solictors, but the funds have not hit their bank yet so they cannot allow the keys to be released.

Fingers crossed it will be fairly soon.

Yeah was a bit mad...although not as crazy as some guys turning up a few days before hand and installing a mahoosive shed in our garden whilst we were out at work! That was a bit of a shock, however everything was pretty much all in place.

Still an hour to go before the Solictitors close, are you far away from them? If it was me I would be sat outside the office ready to collect the keys!
