The new Arsenal Club Thread - *No Spoilers & Read OP Before Posting*

Wenger used the armband as some sort of carrot to try and persuade his best player to stay (Henry, Fabregas, Van Persie).

edit: regarding captain choice, thought it would have gone to Bellerin perhaps as he was captain the other night. Although not 100% clear if Emery maybe fancies giving Chambers a run in the league.

As for the role of the captain, I'm not saying you have to be a captain to be a leader. I'm saying sometimes the armband carries extra significance, players rightly or wrongly might pay more attention to the captain barking orders, or in olden times taking their collective concerns to the manager.

Out of interest has anyone successfully had their Red membership promoted to Silver? I've had mine well over 10 years and when I phoned up the other week they said I was still about 17000th in the queue. I think it's dropped from about 22000 since I last checked 3-4 years ago so at this rate it will be getting on for about 20 years waiting time to get Silver membership. Also been on the season ticket waiting list for a few years.

You hear all the noise about fans turning away in droves but I'm not really seeing the evidence of it. I think people just keep their memberships going and sell to family and friends.

I'm a red member for the past 8 year's and I was offered season ticket for club level

On the phone they said it varied 8-15 years. All seems a bit too random for me.

I think it must be due to junior gunners getting to jump the queue straight to silver membership when they get old enough or something. Might just sign my son up even though I feel he is a bit too young to take him / not that interested in football.

My understanding is that junior gunners still have the same wait time but as most usually start them when they are young the wait time is passed by the time they are 18.

I have 2 junior Gunners memberships too, they said my wife's and those 2 would all become silver around the same time.

Just had a look at the MU game on Wednesday, quite a few tickets available which is highly unusual for this fixture. Watch out for the media making loads of comments about empty seats - perhaps down to reduced train services.

Sounds like Chambers might have done his ACL against Chelsea. Just rumours so far but if it’s true we definitely have the worst luck when it comes to defensive injuries. That’s my first choice back 4 all out injured.

It looked bad at the time, there was a very brief clip they showed on the replay with him on the right side of the screen where he landed and his leg was at an unnatural angle above/below the knee. I said to the mrs at the time he's done a knee ligament.
