The New European Super (borefest) League

They (the PL) would probably have to tear up the rights deals signed with Sky (etc), or face legal action from them for devaluing their product? I don't know really, not a lawyer, but seems likely. If they kicked out the so-called Big 6 then Sky (etc) would be wondering what the heck they've paid all that money for..
and the PL could sue the big 6 for reneging on their contract surely? I can't imagine there isn't some clause or clauses that protect against clandestine negotiations and formation of a rival league structure.

Am i the only one wondering why the PL and UEFA didn't have a plan in place for this eventuality that they could just blow the dust off an enact? I mean it's not like it hasn't been suggested previously. It feels a bit like people have been caught off-guard and unsure what to do in response.

Manchester United’s stockmarket value up over $250 million. This is happening isnt it.
Yep. Sounds like they've been working on this for a long time and have every base covered.

I'd rather see Liverpool demoted to the conference, our value tank and FSG removed than support the club in the direction it's headed. This is ten times worse than anything Hicks and Gillette did :(

There does come a point though where enoughs enough. This is pure greed. They are already super rich.

Yeah but how much money do the FA/UEFA make out of these clubs being in their respective competitions? if the clubs in question think that their product is good enough by itself then why not get together and cut out the middle men? you get situations in the arts/music where artists who create work get a 5% cut in all profits whilst their publishers (who they basically need due to the way the system is set up) get 95% just for marketing and distributing it.

Football lost its 'soul' to money many years ago so the argument about fans is empty, it's pure business nowadays.

Hicks were hours away from dissolving the club so i wouldnt go that far. There isnt enough power in those 14 clubs to pass a vote.

Utd's share price going up doesn't mean this is happening - news of the potential of this is what's caused the price to rise.

Anyway, I've been out for an hour or so, what have I missed?
